I haven't been this excited about a new release in decades.
Given the Maverick's pricing structure - although I have a strong suspicion it will start at $19,995, plus an outrageous destination fee charge of $1.5k - bringing the true total to $21.5k - the Maverick might well be the next K-Car, Volkswagen Beetle, etc
I think history will show the release of the Maverick to be that noteworthy.
Why am I excited? A low base price; (I hate unitbody, yet) real frame rails integrated into the bed; the possibility of a manual transmission, arriving in a perfectly sized package. The spyshots showed a hideous grille, yet the latest (completely finished) renditions are handsome.
If Ford markets this with a manual, there's no contest; the Maverick literally hasn't any competition for my next vehicle purchase. Given the Maverick's packaging/pricing/size, this vehicle might really make Ford stand out once again.
Who else sees this as the next K-Car, Beetle, Ford Mustang LX 5.0, etc? I'd bet that Ford sells a ton of Mavericks. They really have a winner on their hands.
