DIY Bed Extender

Adapted this bed extender from my F150. I used it for firewood mostly. It is made out of a ladder and shelf material. Originally made it as there was “bed anxiety “ on my f150 due to 2 CNG tanks in the bed. Mav also has Some restriction with the bed. This yields almost six feet of bed length. I cut about a foot off the width and 3 inches off the sides to get it to fit from previous vehicle. It connects to each side of the bed with hook-bolts. Takes about 5 minutes to install. The rails have a slit hose on the bottom to protect the paint

The bed IS smaller than "typical".

Yet I brought home a dinning room table and 6 chairs in mine.

I havent gotten around to my idea yet. Been working on modding our topper so far. I wanna do it out of aluminum sheet with square tubing edges and have it fold flat against the tailgate. Yours may be stronger though. You could probably skin that with diamond plate aluminum and self tappers.

Thanks, it worked very well on the F150 for what it is. So far I’ve used it for moving stuff to the garage sale for the wife. She wants me to use a tarp so I Won’t scratch the bedliner

Hey my wife was hauling paint buckets in the backseat the first week she worked with it. I just moved em down to the floor mats. But she lets me modify it here there so it's okay.

Do the sides fold in, or is it always in that configuration?

looks great and makes much more sense than the curved box extension offered

Do the sides fold in, or is it always in that configuration?

It can remove in one piece and then it unbolts into 3 parts to store.
