I’ve been trying to come up with a solution when I’m running to the grocery store and I have 2 kiddos with me. This divider with 4 hooks on one side and chest latches securing a 2 x 4 x 54 3/8” to a 2 x 8 x 54 3/8” (tapered down a 1/4” at the bottom) will keep things from sliding around! I used a textured black paint and also cut grab handles in the 2 x 8 using a 2” hole saw and a jig saw. Total cost was $46 and took about an hour of time without counting paint dry time. This also includes 4 additional hooks that I haven't (not sure that they are needed) attached yet. I am going to grab another chest latch tomorrow to add to the center of the other side to snug it together a little better. It will also make the unit a more solid, finished piece when attached.

Do you know the measurement from side to side, also how high to be even with the top of the wheel well ?

I haven’t measured to the top of the wheel well, but side to side is 54 3/8”. I tapered the bottom by 1/4” to make it “lock” into place a little snugger.

Cool! I did a similar thing but added a center divider. Also put a single cross piece at the front of the bed (near the cab) to have support front to back for carrying 4 x 8 sheets of plywood.

Edit: I have the drop liner for the bottom only. The 2 x 8 was ripped to be 6 1/2" wide to match the wheel wells- for my truck. Same for the "front" cross member.

That's a great idea. I had not thought about it doubling as a support structure. The reason for adding the handles was to pull it out easier if I needed to load something larger. I will check to see if the 2 x 8 (7 1/4" actual height) is the same as the wheel wells. If so, then just unlatching the 2 x 4 and removing it will make a great support structure to carry plywood etc. Another thing I thought about, and will probably change this week, is using eyelets instead of open hooks and attaching carabiners to them to secure bags.

Thanks! Someday I will have something very similar but I need to come up with a way to cradle a two wheel dolly as well.

I think I better get the truck before I build the divider though…

I went with this support design for 4x sheet goods. FYI, the ends are NOT 45 degree cuts,,,,

Same here! I have so many things on my “Mav accessories” list that I want to get going on, and my bride keeps reminding me to wait until I actually get the truck. Dang it!

I’ve got a 2X6 across my rear of the bed. The measurements the OP provided are accurate, just need to shave down the corners of each end for a nice snug fit that will also come out! I never thought about putting handle holes in mine. That’s a great idea. I considered other options to keep objects in place/stop them from moving. But honestly I bought some ford rubber mats from Ollie’s, cut and fit them for $20. Even with the drop in bed liner underneath the rubber mat, nothing moves.

Can you send a pic of the mats from Ollie’s? Curious about how that turned out.

Hooks look great! I made a divider from 2x8 that drops in (no fancy handles) but it was too heavy for me to want to keep back there all the time.

Ended up getting a ratcheting bar from HF that I put about 6" off the floor of the bed but bags still slide side to side.

Good work!

I built one out of a 2x6 and it is a pain in the butt to get in and out. Handles are a good idea and rounding the bottom corners sounds like a good idea too. BTW you can use the "Bottle Opener" Tie downs at the top rear to hang the grocery bags on. I also used some cheap door stops on the top of my 2x6 to hang them from.

So these FoMoCo rubber mats were sold through Ollie’s at some point this summer. I heard about them through this forum. My Ollie’s didn’t put them out until about two months after others had purchased their mats. I don’t recall the exact price but I want to say they were $10-$15 a piece.
I assume they were for another vehicle but with some minor trimming they fit pretty well. One May gets you most of the bed covered. I bought two and trimmer them to fit, and the seem is right beneath my 2X6.

I have A tonneau cover but even when it’s rolled up they haven’t moved on the highway. It’s a fairly heavy duty mat. For me it was cheaper than buying a maverick specific mat. Doesn’t look terrible (YMMV), but more importantly it works great!
