I'm probably starting too early (going for a 2023), but has anyone else been phoning around tracking which dealerships are asking what for Maverick orders? And saving a doc with the results of those calls and the name of who you spoke to?

Or am I just way too OCD about this?

Probably the key item of importance is finding a dealer that you trust. Find out their position on and commitment on:
  • Ordering a vehicle at a specific price (I suggest no more than MSRP)
  • Agree to terms for anomalies (disposition of deposit (if required) if order is canceled by you or delayed beyond a pre-determined period)
  • Terms of Sale regarding Payment (is cash OK, buyer-secured financing, other?)
  • Terms of Sale regarding Add-ons (are there mandatory add-ons like finish/fabric protection. laser VIN etching BS, etc.)
  • Doc Fees (what are they and can they change?)
I was fortunate to find a dealership that was pleasant to deal with kept their word.

I was thinking of doing the same when ordering a 2023. I figure I will get it sooner than the one I ordered on July 6, 2022 - still no VIN#...
