Dealer texted me they had a XL AWD available for 7500 over MSRP. I said no Looking for hybrid xlt. They then said if I want to pay only MSRP I need to order one and I should come in NOW to preorder the hybrid version. I said no orders till August 16th . They said come in now to get on a list.

So if I do that I wont get any kind of order sheet with price . Would you do this and if so what should I get in writing if anything?

Maybe they faked a bunch of orders with people whose info they had before ordering wrapped up and now they need buyers to dodge to 75% requirement? Or they just want to try the hard to sell you on the awd they stole from someone?

I would never do that. If you don't get that order sheet signed & get a copy, you have nothing traceable w Ford should an issue come up.

When we ordered in Oct 2021 we got our price initialed & the accepted XPlan pricing initialed. My husband agreed to pay $1500 over MSRP on our order paperwork but our level of XPlan (corp partner) did not allow for the price to be over MSRP so that came off on our finalized paperwork.

Yea I thought it was wrong to come in now before I can place an order the way Ford says too. I texted back about my concern not doing it the way ford says to. They have yet to respond. I have several dealers in my area so I sure don't have to use this one.

Just pre order with a straight shooter come August 15th (Ford changed it 1 day sooner). I would find a good dealer now good chance someone here has bought from your local dealers.

Whats stopping this dealer from charging you $7500 when your truck actually gets delivered? Dealer games are infuriating.

Sounds like a "waiting line" with your name on the list. You put your name on the list say as #12 and when they get an allocation for the 12th order then yours is done. You would have to do a build when that came out of course, but the issue is demand in August. If Hybrid demand is as high as now plus continued supply issues, they may only get (I'm guessing) 5 Hybrid allocations in August. They may want you to put down a refundable deposit as well, but there are probably many dealers around that won't. I think the big trick is finding a good dealer you trust. I was on a C8 waiting list from July till this month and just got an allocation and no problems with my dealer.

I called about 12 dealers and asked them how they are handling orders for 2023. I’ve heard everything from a dealer wanting $1,000 deposit to you have to be on a wait list before 8/15 and they already have “hundreds of orders ahead of you.” I finally found a dealer that is no BS. Place your order on or after the 15th and pay MSRP. I’m going there.

There is no info about options of pricing for 23 Mavericks. You shouldn't need to deposit...but getting on a list to be notified when that information is available so that you can submit an order as soon as it is possible would be a good idea.

Our dealership is making a list of people to contact for the vehicles that we can no longer order.
As long as you find a dealer you trust to stick to their agreement to MSRP (and who don't require a deposit to get on the list), you should be good!

That is all exactly what I was told by my dealer of choice. Come in on the first day and order your truck. Like you, that is where I am going. These bullshit dealers are not worth my time and effort. Too old and too crotchety to deal with idiots and play their silly little games. Best of luck to you.

I am in the Buffalo NY area. (Western NY) Basil Ford in Cheektowaga texted me today.

Quote. I would be happy to address your concern. This is pre-registering for when the order banks reopen. We are asking for a $500 deposit, that can either be put towards your vehicle or refunded to you at the time of delivery. If you'd like, I can get you in touch with one of my product specialist for them to go over specifics such as price agreements and the like. Is that something I could do for you? End quote.

So they want a deposit on a pre-order. I am fine with a deposit on an actual order BUT a pre-order not so much. Plus with no actual order there is nothing to sign showing the price as they don't even know what the prices will be for the 2023 models.

I sure don't want to wait till August 15th then try and place order and get told there are 50 people ahead of me. I would THINK that if I place order on Fords website on the 15th and pick dealer then that dealer would follow the order in which they receive the online orders not some pre-order arrangement. Or will dealers just ignore the online orders they receive and use there pre-order list even though those people never even did the online order thing? Yes I understand its NOT really an order after I do the start of ordering on fords website. The dealer actually places the order. BUT still would think they would follow the order they receive the online "order" not sure what you would call the part the purchaser (me) goes online and starts process.

I'd be looking for another dealer...
Same. Will go to Bozard Ford (St. Augustine) next time. Still debating whether to use them for servicing. St. Augustine is about an hour up the road from me. If they can give me a loaner for running around town while I wait, no contest. St. Augustine is fun to explore.
