Just installed a second dash cam (rear). I can't use the fuse box in the front passenger floor well because fuse tap will not fit into available ignition only options.

The front dash cam is in #3 fuse position (ignition only - passenger floor well) and works great.

For now, I am powering the rear dash cam with the long USB cable which plugs into the cigarette lighter.

I would like a cleaner option to wire the second (rear) dash cam and thinking, maybe I can run it to the Under the Hood Fuse Box with a fuse tap ?

Possible Issues :
1. Will Under the Hood Fuse Box cover be able to close after adding fuse tap ?
2. Are there any Ignition Only fuse options even available ?
3. Need to locate firewall access point - I think it only exists on the drivers side.

Thank you in advance to all.

P.S. - I tried using both Micro 3 and Micro 2 fuse tap options to have TWO dash cams in the Passenger Floor Fuse Box - but could not get any combination to fit.

Why not run both cams off that single tap?

Also, I run my RD similar to your pic but use a Garmin OBD2 connector for my Dash Cams, and its power on after key power off is switch selectable. Simple plug and play

May not be the answer your looking for, but I used systems that had both cameras in a single kit. The back camera is powered by a plug-in on the front camera.

I did a thread about installing them last year. Sorry, I’ve deleted all my photos.

Yep a 10A add on fuse is plenty for 2 dash cams. That's what I would do.

Thank You Johnkn.

How would you run both cameras off a single tap ?

The Garmin OBD2 connector does look like a viable option.

You should be able to strip the red cable on both cameras twist them together and put them in the blue connector on the fuse tap. It's possible you might have to change out the blue connector for a larger one but it should work.

Hi, I would remove the current tab and split it into 2 connectors rather than the one. There may be double taps or splitters available

Here’s the Garmin OBD2 device I use on 4-5 of my vehicles:

Yep. I think the fuse tap you linked would probably be a better option, so if you're in no hurry then I'd go that route, otherwise I think your diagram should work.

I agree - I will try the double fuse tap option first.

I will report back once I give it a go.

Never knew that double fuse taps were even a thing - thank you for this great suggestion.
