Well here's where I'm at. First vehicle I've had with a shroud underneath the engine. It really does keep it clean but adds 10 or so mins. To an oil change. Need to add a hinge or some way of closing the opening after cutting the hole

I looked at the plastic plumbing access hatches for drywall but that's overkill

In the 2.0 under engine shield for oil change accessibility? I'm thinking about it real hard.
2023 XLT hybrid. I don't mind removing the cover for oil change but my problem is there is not a good place to put a jack stand. There is a bar right behind the cover but I don't feel comfortable putting weight on that point. I will probably buy these ramps to raise the Mav high enough for the oil change.

I’ve taken vehicles to dealers for service. In some cases, the tech would remove a dust cover or splash guard to gain access to an area, but not put cover(s) back on, just pitch them. Oh, that’s not good…ridding private property?

I return to dealer explaining what happened. They saying covers not necessary, required. I countered the mfr put them there for a reason, and they need to be located, or new ones put back on. Dealer barked. I called LEO, saying stolen property…..dealer heard, then relented, says will install covers.

Shook em up.

Yes it is but apparently the bolts strip easily.
Yes the "bolts" thread into the "tin metal" stamped nuts. Had these first as trim hardware on my last Ranger (2008).
Will be doing my 2nd oil change this Sat. To ME its just another part... not a big deal..
Note* I hand thread them in, then use a manual ratchet to snug the bolts up.. ;)

Update November 4th, 2023 14:00 hrs.
Just finished with my 2nd Oil Change and lost a "Nut" in the process. Found it after moving the "Pup".

Here is the Fastener "Assembly" for the Engine Bay Shield... (15 of them, total).

Black Metal "Screw" (Trox #T-30) and the 'Tin-metal Nut"
Guess, I will run with only "14 screws" for now... :D

I am planning on the inexpensive marine "deck hatches" under the oil filter and the drain plug. Turning handle valve on the drain plug. It is so easy to dump your oil, and change the filter every other time if things are accessible, and not worry about the overtightened, stripped-out drain plug, cheaper than expected oil and filter, etc. We live in an area where one needs to climb a 4000' hill to get home, and there have been those who did not survive the "oil changer" type service to get over the hill. Old school I know, but if you want something done right....

Ford came to my house after the " fire hazard from oil dripping" notice and drilled 5-6 2" holes in bottom cover-why not just cut another hole and leave it?

It is better to deal with the hassel of removing the shield before changing oil than cutting into it. The structural loss after cutting and potential added weakness from oil penetration is not worth it. In my opinion. The dirt and crud splashed up onto the engine over time makes it more difficult to diagnose problems as well as all the other issues it adds.
