All right... Let's have a speculation thread. For real, or for fun. Only Maverick related conspiracies (even if loosely tied), please.

The hybrid delay is not because the EPA, there's a real problem with Ford eCVT production.

The EPA is actually the reason for the delay in hybrid production. The reason is the Maverick actually makes 50 city and had to be verified. The EPA officials are shocked.

The Area 51 color is named after the location which the hybrid technology was actually developed. The hybrid is really a nuclear hybrid technology harvested from an alien spacecraft that gets 500 miles to the neutron.

I think it's fair to say at this point that somethings gone wrong with hybrid drivetrain production and Ford's not able to resolve it anytime soon. That's not a conspiracy theory at all.

But did you know its because lizard people are intercepting critical component shipments that are coming in to the Port of Ensenada?

Ford is delaying the hybrid numbers from reaching full potential because of CAFE. They did some math and even if they produce at full capacity, the payout won't effect the bottom line enough. They're saving the fuel economy numbers for next year, where they can better impact the bottom line.

Complete conspiracy theory.

Ford wants people to switch to Ecoboost so it's delaying the hybrid. Just like they waited to announce the free awd upgrade until most people already switch out of fwd 4k.

I think you're on to something here. Ford is only delaying the hybrid until the costs for chips covers down enough to turn a profit on hybrids.

Little do they know, the cost if chips is never coming down.

Possible. If they are hoping to ride it out. Good luck to them

What if Ford is doing at this on purpose? There is a rule that a manufacturers fleet has to make a certain MPG. Ford needed to make %40 hybrid to meet that number. They were only ever going to produce a maximum %40 hybrid, demand be damned.

Now, the chip shortage and costs of battery and other hybrid specific parts no longer make %40 the target number to turn a profit on the hybrid, now it's somewhere between %36-%1.

So, instead of asking customers to pay more or telling them their truck can't be built, they're kicking the can down the road.

Whatever the magic %Hybrid is, they're going to make that and demand is not part of the equation. So, if the number is %5, then the hybrid orders will have to wait until Ford builds %95 of the Ecoboosts until their place in the mystery scheduling system is reached.

Ford was bribed by Toyota not to launch a truck that gets the same mpgs as their cars

OR.... Something happened with the new in house electric motor/eCVT transmission... Notice how the posts from the transmission insider stopped at 139/week? 🤔

That's because it's not accelerated at all. For whatever reason, is not working. I bet the transmission that's delivered is not the same as the pre production models. They're going to go back to out sourcing the motors because the in house model failed to meet standards somehow (too expensive or just blew up.)
