Howdy, all!

As the thread title states, I'm thinking about ordering a Maverick as a work truck. I'm a Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator (for those of you whom might be unfamiliar with my work, I'm one of those jerks that drives in front/behind an Oversize Load on the highway, with the flashy lights and flags, that stops you from going around because we're too slow), and that means that I'm going to be driving a whole lot in whatever vehicle I use. Many PEVOs tend to use trucks like this because of their longevity over 300k miles.

I came across a Maverick demo at the Tulsa State Fair (Yes, I know Tulsa isn't a state, I don't know why it's called that), and started looking into them since. Based on the type of work that I've done just in the last year alone, I already know that I'm going to need AWD, which I see requires the EcoBoost engine. Seeing as I've once, in my current truck, gotten stuck in the mud and had to have a good Samaritan yank me out, I would be best served with the tow hooks in front, just in case. That, of course, also requires the FX4 package. All of which I'm good with.

My concern honestly lies in the fact this is a brand new line of vehicles, for all intents and purposes. If car salesmen were always honest and trustworthy, I'd have no worries. But seeing as we all know better than that, I'm coming to you folks. I'm not a car guy, by any means. I'm more along the lines of an I.T. guy, but I don't plan on installing a wifi hotspot in my truck (...yet). Just how smart do you fine folks think it is to gamble on the longevity of these trucks, seeing as I could easily put between 1k miles in a week on it?

Thanks, folks!

I think it would be a perfect vehicle for your application....As a long time Ford owner...I can honestly say I have never had any Powertrain problems on any of my vehicles and I also drive many miles on weekly basis

I purchased a xlt 2.0 awd and so far have been happy with it. Big fan of the 2.0 turbo. At one point I had a focus st and fusion se with bolt ons and a tune. The torque steer was bananas but with the awd chief's kiss 👍👍👍

The 2.0 EB is a fairly established engine, overall I don't think there should be anything in particular to be concerned with in particular if you are going that route.

Also, all Mavericks have an AT&T LTE modem already built in. That allows you to use the free remote start and lock/unlock features. You can optionally pay for wifi hotspot service directly from the truck (no need to 'install' a wifi hotspot). I think the price is fairly reasonable as well (like $20 plus fees).

Yeah, this is basically a parts bin vehicle, so I would have no worries with that "first model year" adopter cry.

For what it's worth, I bought a '15 F150 when that all-new model first came out, with the all new 2.7EB engine. Ended up being one of the most trouble free, enjoyable vehicles I've ever owned. (I'm 57, and have driven hundreds of vehicles in my career in the automotive world.)

Honestly, I only made the hotspot comment as a joke reference to my I.T. knowledge, but that's some VERY interesting information that I was otherwise completely unaware of! Thank you for that!

I have no worry of it being any less reliable than a typical Ford, only concern would be the eventual turbo maintenance down the road. Also, the plate of spaghetti engine bay is a little off-putting :)
