Part 4 of my on going chrome delete project is replacing the OEM chrome and black hybrid badge with a matte black hybrid decal. First, I taped around the badge. Then, I removed the badge with dental floss. Then I used adhesive remover to remove the remaining adhesive. Then I cleaned the area with a degreaser. Finally I applied the decal.

I got the decal from Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1228635677/hybrid-vinyl-door-decorative-decal. I had to custom order the decal size to match the OEM badge size (4" x 3/4"). The door decal in the listing is too big (8" x 1").

I used Spray Nine degreaser. https://a.co/d/eg7sd1U

I used Mötsenböcker's adhesive remover. https://www.walmart.com/ip/771238547

We all have different tastes and I actually like a bit of chrome. Here these chrome wheel rings add a touch of class to my otherwise bland XL steelies.

I recall from my childhood that cars devoid of chrome were always the cheaper models. Times change.

I was just going to take off the hybrid emblem and leave it off, but I like the look of that decal so will consider it. I'm looking at "dechroming" my Lariat when it arrives, I have purchased the blackout decals for the emblems from "StevieDecal" on Etsy and the matte black badge/emblem mounting covers to cover what the decals don't. I will have to hunt down your parts 1, 2, and 3 and check them out also !.... Ironically having said that, I did purchase a set of steelies for winter and bought the chrome trim rings for them like Poultrygeist posted the picture of lol. Although I have painted the steelies black to enhance the chrome trim ring .

You could have put an Ecoboost sticker on instead!
I could have, but didn't, LOL. I'm proud to drive the hybrid. The hybrid powertrain is one of the main reasons I bought the Maverick.

We have (had) a C-Max with now over 100,000 miles that was an absolute pleasure to own. I retired 6 months ago and passed the little bugger on to our son, battery is still going strong!! Good luck and have fun with your new Maverick!

Dental Floss! Thank you! I was wondering how I was going to remove these!

I learned how to remove a vehicle badge/emblem from YouTube. This video was especially helpful: .
