I am still trying to figure out what wires to use. I removed the dome light model and took a pic of the plug. Starting from the left:

Yellow/Green: +12v
Brown: +12v
Violet/White: +12v
Purple: +2v (?)
Black/Blue: Ground

I have not been able to find a switched +12v in that plug. Am I missing something?

I followed this image above and I am only getting 10.3v out of that purple/white left wire on the left...anyone else having a different reading?

The black/blue wire is your ground, the Purple wire is your (switch power) Yellow/green (last write on your right) wire is your constant power.

This was all written in my post.

All good. I appreciate the hand holding. I got it all installed and HomeLink working.

Just wanted to say the provided instructions work well.

The only tip i would like to give - to remove the map light / sunglass holder - press the sunglass holder to open it up - then reach up in the void and pull the frame down.

I also used a dremel to notch the black camera piece at the bottom for the cord pass through.

soldered and heat shrinked all connections.

So, my Homelink stopped working, when I push the Homelink button, the green light doesn't turn red. None of the HomeLink buttons are working, I can turn Homelink off and on, and nothing. I called Homelink (the 800#) and went over everything with them, even the "reset" isn't working. I took the mirror down and replaced it with the original mirror (took 2 minutes tops) I'm calling the Kia dealer I bough it from (link in this thread) to see what I need to do to return it and get a replacement.,

I am going to assume that most of us did not supply a VIN confirming compatibility for the mirror ad they we are SOL on returns since we installed this as a DIY at home and no dealer.

Wrong, providing a VIN isn't needed, the Homelink people stated that the Homelink module is the issue, and has nothing to do with what vehicle it is in. It's a simple 3 wire setup.

OK, I was able to install the Kia Mirror and tap into the wiring harness for the Dome lights. I watched a video on YouTube, and in the video, I watch the person telling which wires to use... Complete success. Had to make a run to O'Riely's to get wire connectors.

There are three "clips" holding the black cover on.

The second photo shows there is a "tether" connector that holds the panel (I couldn't figure out how to undo it)

We also took the cover/panel for the Dome light (I have a sunroof) down and disconnected the wires. I tapped into the wires for the dome light. The video I found did the same thing on another Ford vehicle and the same wires were there...

I used about a foot of the wire that came with the mirror, it was over kill but when everything is tucked back in place there is plenty of space.

In this photo you can see the green light is on the mirror, so the mirror is getting power. VERY simple and easy... Truly I could do this in about 25 minutes from start to finish.

Completely put back together looks factory.

Took a picture once the Mirror was calibrated to show the compass. Now, I need to program the homelink.

Can't believe how inexpensive this was from Kia.....

This is what I used to connect with the wiring harness.....

@Dad
Great DIY project! Thanks for posting images and great job too!
May you kindly confirm where can you get the red tool that you used to remove the dome light model? And, did you had to cut off the terminals from the wiring harness to properly connect with the(blue) splices? Your image #5 shows the wiring harness already connected, however I'm curious if you cut them off or left them. Thank again!!

I shortned the harness, not sure what you are getting at about the blue wire.

I have this to take interior panels off

BTW, one can also get a smaller version of this tool kit to remove door panels from Harbor Freight.
