Wow that doesn't sound promising. Care to elaborate?
The powertrain has been proven but everything else is really starting to feel cheap. 1.5 years in and these are the things I’m noticing -
  • Paint chips, it has more paint damage on the front end in 30K than my 15 year old car did at 200K or my wife’s car does at 150K. It has more paint chips than any of my friends cars that are older 3+ years than my car. I think I have 12 or 13 now. I think anytime I hit a bee on the freeway I get a new one.
  • The dash plastic (the blue bits), might as well be play dough they scratch so easily. I did a scratch test of my fingernail on 4 different cars and mine is the only one that can be scratched easily with a fingernail. My glove box looks worse than my 10 year old work truck did and it’s my commuter car. My daughters backpack/bag is the culprit but she rode in all my other cars and nothing like this.
  • The dash plastic pieces that cover the dash tweeters are warping and rattling on the drivers side. It no longer sits flush and now rattles, if I press down on it the rattle goes away.
  • I have rubber seal trim coming off in one place on the roof/near back window, not sure what’s up with that.

I know plenty of people haven’t had these issues and my truck was built in 2021 so perhaps since it’s and early model that has something to do with it. But it just feels really cheap compared to other cars I’ve owned, many of which were inexpensive models. I take really good care of my vehicles and I love my truck but the paint and plastic are my main gripes, just unacceptable levels of wear for just basic use and commuting.

I would try to get these fixed under the full warranty before it ends at 36k miles.

Yea ! Had that little molding piece pop out after our trip . dab of clear silicon caulk and pushed back down . I had a f150 (under warranty ) rooftop brake leaked into cab . bad gasket/seal . same fix . other Mav owners have had issues with that trim piece . l find it easier to just fix it myself than waste my time at the dealer . If you have multiple warranty issues then take to dealer.

Traditionally, Ford's new lowest priced vehicles have always had some issues. Think 1971 Pinto, 1981 Escort, 1986 Festiva, 2011 Fiesta Dual clutch, etc. The 2.0 is a pretty solid engine, but you can expect a few minor issues in 10 years. My wife's 2013 Escape 2.0EB was back at the dealer twice under warranty, but nothing major. It's the rest of the truck that has me more concerned than engines.

My experience with a 2020 Escape with the 2.0 turbo is one of the main reasons I purchased a Maverick. 250 HP, zippy, and should be reliable after got rid of the cooling slots on the cylinder block. I agree with others though, the rest of the truck seems like they cut corners everywhere they could (sound system, interior panels, paint, out of US. manufacturing site, minimum high tech goodies on base models...) Also, for the Maverick, it seems to me like quality control has taken a big step backwards.

For the MAVERICK? Lucky you aren't a Bronco customer. Ford can't figure out how to build engines, transmissions or hard tops for those. And those people are paying double and triple what Maverick customers are paying.

Truth is, Ford leads the WORLD in recalls, and by a WIDE MARGIN. This didn't start with Maverick. Unfortunately it won't end with Maverick either. Quality is no longer Job. 1 with Ford. I am not even sure it's even in the top 100. However, for a "cheap truck" most of us are willing to live with it. I am not sure I would be so forgiving were I purchasing a vehicle that cost $50K or more.

Below is a list from Forbes showing auto recalls in recent years. Ford is like 8-to-1 in recalled units vs. VW, the next worst brand.
