Show me a bank that does not at a minimum require storage insurance on a vehicle with a loan.

Most insurances won't even let that fly when it has a loan.
Original post didn't say anything about payments or loan. I paid cash for mine so I wouldn't have to make monthly payments. Some people do this.

Some do but if you read further down he is making payments on his current 2022. They are $500+ a month indicating that he took a loan for all or nearly all of the 2022.

Being he did that plus still has that loan going reason stands he would do the same for this one hence my comment.

Congrats on having the disposable cash to buy yours in such fashion.

You are still inferring something that wasn't stated overtly. Yes, he has a loan on one, but still unclear about the new one.

Then I shall leave it up to the OP to clarify things if they choose to. If they don't then so be it.

You are being very confrontational on something that has next to no bearing on the OP question or decision to or not to store his brand new vehicle.

Even if one pays cash and parks it unregistered you are foolish not to have some insurance.
OP mention family will start it, drive it around the block, so sounds like it will need tags and insurance.

The OP is asking about the best way to achieve the goal of storage. Doesn't that include every possible way to save depreciation and financial waste. If he follows others advice to drain of fuel and battery tend then having people drive it would'nt be needed right?

If that is true, then unregistering it and dropping insurance is smart. Research the lowest potential/alt coverage if required by loan. Heck, if it's unregistered, unfurled, and garaged (undrivable) then might it be covered by the home insurance with a cheap rider for certain property.

All that said, it just seems rough to go through all this to keep a depreciating asset garaged for a year. The market moving how it is there seems to be an excess of 24s on lots now. Seems like odds are indicating there may be excess 25s on lots when OP gets back.

@MaVVy can I ask, is your worry of waiting related to tariffs or Mexico relations issues due to the changing administration?

Just think about the poster. Considering buying a refreshed model and storing it a year because Ford might stop making it next year.

Honestly, the tariffs is something to worry about, but I believe the truck will be delivered before the new administration comes into play. Comprehensive insurance would be smart in case someone tries to break a window.

I think the tariff thing is mostly talk but even if does happen it would take months to implement and will the administration really want Ford to deal with the fallout for a product thats assembled in Mexico? All I know is the lawyers will be happy with the turmoil and the buyer and/or taxpayer will ultimately pay the bill one way or another.

MaVVy, good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

Why not forgo taking delivery on the order and place the order again a couple months before you return? And get a fresh one. Won't change much for '26. That way you won't eat into the warranty, deal with stabilizing gas (use non-ethanol and a good 2-year stabilizer) or have to pull the 12-volt battery. The high voltage battery will still be sitting idle with unknown charge and you don't want to leave that in a discharged state for a long period of time. Safe travels.

I didn't know where to post this but here goes. I got a new mavvy coming in 2025. I work for the dod. Can I come home buy it, buy an extended warranty through grainger or whoever to go through? Disconnect the battery....cover it up and be fine for a year when I come back? Please help
I don't know what steps would be right. Any help ot advice would be greatly appreciated. I do know I want to keep the truck. Lariat hybrid 4k, BAP, moonroof, eruption green, Tailgate lock.

Leave a full tank with a Marine grade storage and ethanol tretment instilled, as directed by the treatment's directions. I believe there are treatments good for up to two(2)years. Run your engine long enough to get the treated fuel well into it. Todays fuel storage systems in vehicles are pretty tightly sealed.
Best of luck to you.

Eruption green is suppose to be offered for 25 only. I understand your choices. A battery tender and coat of ceramic wax should do just fine. Hopefully you'll get your Mav before heading to Germany. BTW...we've been to Germany a few times. One of our favorite places. Happy New Year and Godspeed.

No, not like that.

Drain it completely of fuel as ethanol does not like sitting for extended periods of time. Put a good battery tender on it. Cover. Relax while away.
When I store my classic vehicle, I do almost the opposite.

Fill the tank to the brim to avoid any condensation entering the tanks. Disconnect the battery and then trickle charge about two weeks before I want to drive again.

Having said that, I only store it for the winter.
