My Hybrid Lariat is arriving by the month end. I did not get 4k tow pkg.
My question is can I still use my truck to pull out a car stuck in a ditch?

I would not with FWD, any FWD unless you hook to your front end and pull in reverse.
AWD not a problem as long as the car is not too big and heavy.
The 4k is better with a slightly lower differential gear ratio.
Could pull a bit heavier car.
Depends on the ditch and 100 other factors.

You could try. But first talk with a tow truck driver and have them tell you how much equipment breaks on the professional tow trucks.

The short answer is yes.

However, it's a bit of a an ambiguous question. With so many unknowns you did not specify, there's no way to estimate your chances of success. But there's no law against trying if that is what you wanted to know.

Depends on how stuck it is/how much traction you have. An 80s Honda Civic can pull a minivan out of a snowbank, you've got double the power, 3x the torque, double the traction, and double the weight. Should be perfectly capable of a reasonable recovery.

I wouldn't try it with a hybrid in reverse. Not enough power with only the electric traction motor, as the ICE is not used for reverse.

I just wouldn’t try it in reverse, period. You don’t have more than 173 lb ft of torque in reverse in the EB either.

If you’ve got a proper recovery rope or you could certainly pull it out if you know what you’re doing.

again, if you know what you’re doing. When I lived down in the foothills of western NC where it rarely snows there were about 20-25 vehicles in a ditch up the hill to my house/neighborhood. The next morning that had ballooned to around 40 vehicles because a bunch of “recovery” vehicles or pavement princess trucks came up to get cars out and only made the situation worse.

Now in Boone - we routinely see the recovery vehicles stuck or in the ditch where on 12 degree incline.

We don’t generally help any more. Just ride by in the SxS sipping on a cold one.

It's a joke, right? Pulling a car out of a ditch with an AWD hybrid drivetrain is a poor decision to make.

Wouldn't be a problem, no front hooks on the hybrid. The only recovery point is the tow hitch, so you have to go forward.

This is a misguided post.

It's rarely about power.
It's always about traction.

Correct. When my buddy and I came across a stuck car over the weekend, it was his 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser 40th anniversary edition that did the pulling, not the Maverick.
