Just wrapped up a camping trip with my 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid, and I couldn’t be happier with how it handled both the journey and the setup!

@leitnerdesigns Rack: This rack was a game-changer, holding all my gear securely while adding a rugged aesthetic to the truck.

@outdoorantidote Tent: The rooftop tent made camping incredibly easy and comfortable, offering a great place to unwind after a day of exploring.

Lighting Upgrades: I swapped out the stock turn signals and side markers for Lasfit LEDs, which not only look sharp but also provide excellent visibility.

Aftermarket Grille: The new grille gives the Maverick a bold, custom look that stands out on and off the trail.

Performance: Whether navigating winding dirt roads or cruising on the highway, the Maverick delivered smooth handling, impressive fuel efficiency, and plenty of versatility.


This truck is an absolute adventure machine. It’s reliable, capable, and the perfect size for off-road trails and camping trips. The mods just take it to the next level.

The Maverick is not a bad camping rig. No roof top tent here, couldn't take everything I want if I did that, so I tow a motorcycle tent trailer.

It varies a lot, depending on location, amenities at the site, and if it's public or privately owned. Back country forestry sites can be either free, or $10-40. Front country ranges from $18-$90 per night.

What made you go with the leitner rack compared to xtrusion? I didn't see a rack from Leitner for the Maverick. Which one did you get?

Looks like CA PCH. What campsite is that? Maybe by Fort Hunter Ligget?

I went with the leitner rack since it offers a rear sliding load bar. I still wanted to use my truck bed for stuff like fridges since I do moving jobs so I needed that vertical option so having the back bar that slides or full-on removes still allows me to stand stuff up tall.

When possible, I try to go camping every other weekend. This past holiday (new year's day), I decided to keep it local and just went to my local park to recover from the drinking binge from New Year's Eve.

I also have a hybrid (2023) with an iKamper mini on the bed rack. The Maverick is a great camping vehicle. It has exceeded all my expectations.

I haven't modded my rig as much as you have, but I plan on it once I get more free time to look around for camping gear that fits my needs. So far, all I've added is a fire extinguisher quick release to my rack. I don't think that counts for much .

Considering doing the Dempster Highway in Canada to the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyatuk this summer solo (without my motorhome in my pic). 1,000 miles up and back on a dirt road in my hybrid. So following this thread.

Gosh I really do love that grille. Have been eyeing it for a while now. 1) How terrible was it to install? and 2) How does the plastic seem to be holding up? Seem like it will last a while and not get all faded out?
