After the first trip a couple weekends ago I decided I wanted a proper kitchen, especially considering there won't be many tables or spots to cook along service roads. I didn't need anything specific but wanted a sink, pressurized water and storage for pots, pans, etc.

With some rough measurements I went into sketch up and started planning a layout. I went off course when I actually started building but just needed to get my ideas down.

I'll let the photos speak for themselves but overall I am very happy with how it turned out. I used a old battery for constant power that I will have hooked up to my bed lights aswell as for charging devices and powering string lights.

Total cost for just the slide out and wood came to about 400$ the big slides themselves where 200$ however considering the cost of purchasing one it is well worth the savings. Approximately 20 hours into the build. im thinking a small solar maintainer should be plenty to keep the battery charged for the weeks it wont be used.

That's awesome!! The idea is modular to many options besides a kitchen. How did you attach the slides to the base of the bed? From photo it looks like 4 screws into the bed - mine only has holes closer to the cab and would appreciate if you can give instructions that a five year old can understand:)
Happy camping and enjoy your kitchen!

I just tapped one of the lower tie down holes for a m8 bolt and it is secured at the front only. There is enough weight and friction from the sibl it doesn't move at all. It's mostly there to keep it from flipping forward when extended

Sometimes I worry about this country and where we are heading and then I see things like this. The old American ingenuity and I know we'll be ok. Apreciate being a member of this group Genious!

Well, I do believe he's Canadian. So, maybe all is lost here. But not north of the border!
