Bit the "bullet" and got the Bulletpoint Rubigrid mount for the truck. I did pop the tray out and bolted it in. Took about 10 minutes to install and I gotta say the entire mount system is solid as a rock. Definitely prefer my phone closer to the driver's side vs to the right because it makes me look further away from the road vs just pick my eyes up quick.
I'm sure some will comment why you need to use your phone when the vehicle has carplay and that's cool. All personal preference. I can put on YouTube or something in the background on boring highway drives, or manipulate Waze and google easier since carplay locks out some functions while driving.
