Hey, everyone. Haven't been on the forums here in quite some time. I had a first gen Maverick Lariat preordered in '21, but I gave up after my dealer ghosted me and wouldn't respond to my requests for option changes to hopefully lighten the commodity constraints and get mine built sooner. I ended up going in the complete opposite direction and leased a Camaro. 7 months into my lease (May '22) my Ford dealer randomly texted me with a photo of what were supposed to be my keys, saying "Better late than never!". Sadly I couldn't take it, and I was still sour over getting ghosted (it was a dealer halfway across the state, not like I could just go there any time).

Anyway, my lease is up in 9 months and while the Camaro has been a blast to drive, I don't plan to renew or purchase. Every single time I see a Maverick on the road I get a little bummed that I wasn't more patient. I see them everywhere now and as I mentioned, I haven't been on the forums in a while, so I have a few questions:

- How's build time and availability these days? Are they typically available on the lot?
- Has pricing increased dramatically like literally every other consumer good? Is Ford still r*ping customers on upcharges, fees, etc?
- Has performance noticeably improved? I'll be honest, it's gonna be difficult for me to downgrade from my current 335HP.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Mavericks, thanks for any feedback you have. Cheers!

There are still wait times, but has not been as long. Many have gotten their ordered Mavericks built in 90 days. Sounds like you want an ecoboost, if so you should be able to find one on a lot for MSRP. Ecoboosts cost has increased some, but not as much as the hybrid.

Not sure if you are financing or not, but if you are, you might want to check around and get rates ahead of time before you show up. Pretty sure rates went up... again...

The Lariat has jumped substantially since MY21 since the optional luxury package is now included.

On top of the ridiculous dealer markups

I had a dealer call me last night telling me they had one on the lot. He said it was 33,000 for a lariet but wouldn't tell me what the dealer markup was until I came in. I told him to sell it to someone else, I don't need it that bad and I don't do business that way.

God that's infuriating. I've always had a Ford until the past 10 years because of the way the dealers do business.

My 22 EB Lariat was my first Ford EVER. My 24 hybrid Lariat will probably be my last. Good product but Ford dealers in my area are terrible to do business with. I will do my own basic maintenance, oil changes, etc. and only go to dealer for recall or warranty related issues. So far no need for a dealer.

*why* are you back in the market? a camaro and maverick couldn't be much more different. what matters to you, what do you need from a vehicle, especially things that the maverick can do that a camaro cannot - towing, soft roading / light offroading, hybrid commuting... what?

I already said my lease is up this year and I don't plan to renew or purchase. I'm 44 and have always had Ford vehicles since I was 17 until 34. '97 Explorer XLT. '98 Mustang. '01 F150. '07 Fusion. '10 F150. Ultimately the Ford dealers got impossible to work with, they treated my wife like garbage when she turned in her lease, and one of their salesmen assaulted me during an argument over personal property in the vehicle I was turning in. Needless to say I was turned off from Ford for some time.

I still love the look of the Maverick and it first came along right when I was getting nostalgic for compact pickups (big fan of the 90s sport truck trend). I love driving the Camaro but I need something bigger now, but not too big and with decent fuel economy (my work commute quadrupled after changing jobs in the middle of my lease). I do like the newer Tacomas but they're likely out of my price range. I miss having a truck and it would be nice to once again drive a vehicle that at the very least has enough storage space for my keys 🤣

Huh. Well, I'm not sure anyone answered your questions, so here goes. I see your engine is listed as 'undecided'. You need to figure that out first. For most areas in the US, you should be able to find at least one ecoboost awd and one hybrid to test drive, even if you can't find a truck that something you'd consider buying because of trim level, etc.

1. build time is improved subject to 3 criteria that can result in a long wait: ordering a hybrid, ordering an XL, local dealership out of allocations. search/browse the ordering and general forums to learn more about those 3 things. but if your dealer has an allocation and you order a xlt or lariat ecoboost, yes, it could get built quickly. or maybe not.

2. pricing has gone up $1500-2500 on hybrid. on ecoboost it increased a lot on xl, xlt, xlt lux and lariat is now mandatory lux. short version if you ordered a first edition ecoboost 2 years ago, you're going to pay about $38-39k for that same truck today. you add another $2k if you option a Tremor.

3. no changes in power. as it's always been, you have to use premium fuel in the ecoboost to get the rated 250hp/277lb-ft. it runs on 87 but produces less. if you want more power, you have to use a tuning device, which probably would result in a denied warranty claim if you had any engine trouble. (and you probably wouldn't. check the ecoboost engine forum, plenty of heavily modified trucks, no one has blown an engine.) not sure why you would consider a hybrid if this is a priority.

I find getting 50 mpg in town to be as exciting as driving a 300+ hp car (I mean, whoopie-do "push pedal, go fast" - modern "performance" vehicles don't move the needle for me - it requires more "talent" to eek out mpg without pissing off other drivers than racing stop light to stop light)

If you're exciting by saving fuel and money - the hybrid is awesome.
