Can this change things like audio settings, time before lane centering demands hands on wheel? Thanks to our friend @Golfsnob we now have a confirmed, working Auto Start/Stop Delete using just Forscan!
This is the same technique used on the Ford Bronco that was previously mentioned in other threads AND on the Bronco forums. @Golfsnob has both a Bronco and a Maverick and used the technique successfully on both.
I have also used this Forscan technique on my 2023 EB and can happily report it works like a charm. No lights or indicator. Just disabled.
Here's the technique from @Golfsnob:
"You have to change the values in the "AS Built" in the PSCM module address 730-03-01. There are 3 sets of values. In the 3rd set of values change the first two digits from 01 (enabled) to 00 (disabled). Then click write all and follow the key off/on instructions. That's it."
Enjoy! And many thanks to @Golfsnob for saving us all that money![]()
It could save the cost of a starter needing premature replacement. And, obviously, for those of us who were considering purchasing an Auto Start/Stop Eliminator it'll save us that unnecessary expense. What money is being saved? (serious question)
Yes. One less frivolous thing to do.So I gather it’s just an annoyance? Hitting the off switch when you start the rig every time is just a pita?
That would be me. That's why I bought the aftermarket plug in work aroundSounds like this permanently turns out off.
What seceral people want is it to default to off, but be able to turn it on if desired.
Agreed. Though probably they did it to satisfy EPA requirements or something like that. Otherwise there's no real reason to make it "mandatory on".Yes. One less frivolous thing to do.
And a certain satisfaction in having YOUR vehicle the way you want it.
I've never sat in a car and said to myself 'gosh, i am really glad this thing is auto stopping and starting. I do not know what i'm going to do with all the money saved.'
While waiting, if you don't want to have the delay, wiggle the steering wheel back and forth a bit. That will disable AutoSS or at least delay its engaging while you are paused. Doing that wiggle will also make the engine start if you find the need while stopped.Agreed. Though probably they did it to satisfy EPA requirements or something like that. Most of the time I don't notice the engine cuts off, but sometimes it cuts off just as you're about to hit the gas for a merge and it's actually kind of dangerous because of the lag time to when you actually get some power.
It would be nice to have more control over it than always off or always on.
It's actually half as much as you said.It costs about $200 for the device that turns off a/s/s that plugs into the odb2 port.
My go to method has been to very slightly ease up on brake pedal pressure. As soon as it detects your foot coming off the brake it restarts the engine and will not shut off again for that stop. Mav never moves. While waiting, if you don't want to have the delay, wiggle the steering wheel back and forth a bit. That will disable AutoSS or at least delay its engaging while you are paused. Not true. The starter is not your normal starter. It is highly modified and built to higher standards for this use. The battery is an AGM for this purpose, with more cranking amps and longer life.It could save the cost of a starter needing premature replacement. Well that's good to hear. Once I disable the auto start/stop, my beefy starter and battery should last an extra long time! Not true. The starter is not your normal starter.
