Hello I’ve been concerned because my Maverick puts auto AC on in 60 degree weather… I tried to figure this out when I realized that and couldn’t find anything in the manual like people said and my FordPass app looks different than what online says and how to turn auto AC off…

it was 53 this morning and my truck automatically turned AC on… I know I know I know it’s for defogging…. But it’s COLD why does nobody understand why AC when it’s cold just DOESNT MAKE SENSE.

please please please help me I don’t know what I’m going to do when my car is turning AC on when it’s 10 degrees or below.

please help!

That thread is great, it's a good reminder that today's systems are not yesteryear's. Just set it and forget it, or adjust the temp if you are uncomfortable. The rest is the computer deciding what's best.

Sounds like you either need to contact Ford directly or accept the design. "Air Conditioning" isn't just "Make Air Cold-ishioning".

1. I've manually used the AC in the winter before. It has its purpose.
2. Just because you did it one way in the past, doesn't mean it's the right way.
3. Maybe the system IS wrong, but sounding off on a random message board isn't going to change the design so maybe you need to escalate to the people that can.
4. It's honestly pretty darn easy to turn it off, even on the digital system. It takes 2 seconds to reach over and take care of it.

Given this is the second post you've made about this, you don't seem to be ready to accept everything above, but maybe it's time.

Disconnect the wire that goes to the magnetic clutch. If you don't want to have to raise the hood every time, install a switch in the cabin and wires to the clutch wire.

Then you have complete control !

(This won't work on a hybrid- it doesn't have an engine driven compressor)

I wonder about the opposite. In the mild late summer mornings here in Birmingham AL, I like to switch the climate control in my XLT off and lower the windows. When it gets warm and I switch the CC back on by pushing the rotating button, the fan comes on, but the AC button doesn't light up on its own. I've given it a couple of minutes, but finally push the AC button. Even when I dial the temp way down, the AC light stays out.
Does the AC eventually come on automatically when CC is restarted?

I leave my AC active with fan at speed 2 (claustrophobic). If cabin is below set temp heat happens. If cabin is above set temp cool happens. Not sure what happens if I have my side 5-6°F different from wife's side🤗 although I expect it to work on side farthest from it's set temp and close vent for other side, switching back and forth.

Thanks. My XLT only has single zone CC; I've often wondered how dual zones played together.

It's not a hard concept, if AC is set to 65 and it's 10 out, if its on, it's not going to miraculously make it colder.

I hope I can run AC along with heat in cold weather, to keep condensation off the windshield and windows--a real irritation and possible risk at night.
