Anyone attempt 16" wheels yet?

I know, I know there arent supposed to fit. Im just wondering if anyone has tried yet. Steels? Big backspacing? Wheel spacers? Anything? I'm getting a Tremor and 17" wheels just make offroading so much rougher and limit the tire selection of what I can squeeze on there. Plus with a 16" beefy 31x10r16 I get pretty close to a 50% sidewall ratio that make tire grip so much better.

Also curious if anyone knows anything about BS knuckle interchangability to allow 16s on the front, assuming they will already fit the rears.

Finally got to trying the 16” steelies in my shed, I didn’t buy them new so I’m not sure of the offset, all I could find is that they are 16x6. From the looks of the rims, they are very positive, maybe +50ish.
Here is some photos of how tight the clearance is.

As for swapping in a Bronco Sport knuckle that assumes that's where the difference in brake diameter lies. And if the hub bore is different (they have different hubs, at least insofar as the stud size) then it gets even messier.

Cool thanks. Maybe I will give it a shot one day. I have some junk kinda bent wheels I grabbed for random projects, but they have the right bolt pattern. If they end up clearing all beat up I may buy a nice set. Maybe even chrome or orange. I guess we wont know till people start using up ball joints and struts enough for people to compare em.

I tried a set of 16x7.5” +42 MSW wheels and the inside of the barrel wouldn’t clear the caliper.
