The second time in one year. Looking closely I can see many small chips. Do we have bad windshields? Did Ford make them soft, thin and light weight to gain some imaginary fuel economy advantage? I know my insurace company wont be happy. Never had this happen before to any car or truck.

I’m a windshield breaker. I’ll race around big trucks to get away from flying rocks.
I will say I rarely broke or cracked a windshield before I went Ford Only.
Broke one in my Bronco sport,
Broke three in my Transit Connect, but I drove it 90,000 miles a year.
Broke two in my F-150. 187,000 miles in two years, and again Two in my second Ranger at 40,000 miles a year.

Never broke one in my three Camaro’s or three Cuda’s or or in my five Toyotas.
Who knows,
It’s a crap shoot.

No. Same glass used in other vehicles. This is per someone else who used to work in the auto glass industry and posted on MTC about the windshield glass, a year or two ago.

But the windshield may have a more vertical angle to it than what you've previously owned. FWIW, Jeeps, with an even more vertical windshield angle, are even worse.

I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ still sporting the same original windshield 🤞

Not all of them will get broken, nor will Mavericks. I still have the original windshield in my Maverick. No cracks or any more road hazard chips than any other vehicle I've had.
Also>🤞

In the 22 years I had my TJ I had a cracked windshield once when a dump truck ahead of me threw a bolt at me at high speed, would have cracked any windshield. Other than that, just bugs, so so so many bugs.

my windshield cracked edge to edge in the extreme upper right hand corner... so the crack is completely relieved... it won't spread anywhere else... I'll drive with this crack forever as it's small (about 6 inches) and is way out of any imaginable line of sight...

Hello, I have a 2023 XLT with 40,000 miles and my Windshield just cracked and I have no Idea why or how?? Never heard anything hit it. Getting it replaced at Ford on Monday. Maybe there is an issue with them?

You need to buy a Dodge🙄
Well since Ford provide my living for 35 years I believe I will be loyal to them plus I get a nice discount but the Dodge trucks do look nice 👍

I just replaced the rear window on my XLT with an aftermarket having a manual slider. The aftermarket glass is noticeably thicker than the stock glass.
