This is a annoyance about the Maverick. The bed is 6” too short.

On my way to the dump to rid some yard waste. A cheap ole garden tool fails to fit. Jeez Ford, if one of the target users is homeowners, garden tools should be a consideration.

I personally like the fact that the Maverick fits into my standard garage size with a foot+ to spare in the front and back. A longer bed, and that wouldn't happen. Like others have said, use the diagonal...

Sounds like a shitty truck. I’ll take it off your hands for, say… $15k, how does that sound

I'm 5'7" and the bed is still a little tall for me (previous '07 Ford Ranger), but I'll put up the imperfections because it is still a nifty little vehicle shaped like a pickup truck. I'm planning on hauling 15 bags of 2 cu. ft. mulch tomorrow. It will be my first time "working" the Mav.
I would have preferred a longer bed myself but it wasn't a dealbreaker because I have a light 4' x 8' trailer that is there when I need it. ai like it because I can leave stuff on it as long as I need and when I don't need the capacity it's not attached. Consider some roof racks too.

Let's see...they promised a compact truck and they delivered a compact truck.

It's not that the bed is too short. It's that perhaps your brain is too small. 🤣 (You asked for that one here buddy!)
