Android Auto and Maps

My Waze app starts up every time my android phone connects to the head unit. Is there a setting that can prevent that? I don't need the map most of the time and it seems to suck down the phone battery pretty fast

Disable phone's GPS location? Or remove Waze from list of Android Auto apps?

The only way I have found to stop it is to turn off the "start Android Auto automatically" setting.

I've done that before, but I can't remember exactly where the setting is. I think you go to the phone or device settings on the head unit (while connected) and you will find it there.

Of course, this cuts off Android Auto completely until you hit the button on the touch screen to launch it.

You can enable/disable apps from functioning with Android Auto, it's in your phone's AA settings. Doesn't seem Google lets you disable certain default apps like Maps or Phone but Waze should be possible to disable

I use the AA Wireless plugin. It does drain the battery pretty good and i think Waze runniing has a lot to dk with it.
