First let me start this thread by saying I love my Maverick. The design team and engineering department hit the ball out of the park with this trucklet however, I most likely will never again buy another Ford product. The first 9000 miles was filled with new truck bliss as my XLT surpassed my expectations. From 9000 miles on, the trucklets electronics started to crash.
(1) My brake lights come on and stay on when traveling above 5 miles an hour then shut off again below that speed. A severe safety issue if the person behind you don't know if your actually hitting your brakes or stopping short for a road hazard. Have not taken it in to the dealer yet because I just found out about this.
(2) I lost my ABS, traction control, AWD, Stop Start feature, brake hold feature, had a transmission fault and lost all of the safety options. My dealer traced it to a steering angle sensor and told me the sensor is in a hard to reach spot and re-set the factory codes to get everything to work again, just let them know if it happens again. and they will call the Ford hotline to see what to do with it. The symptoms are temporarily gone but the cause is still not repaired. So the idea of having a peace of mind while traveling in my new Maverick is now gone.
(3) The radio system has to be reset constantly in order for apple play to work. Most of the time when I plug my phone in, it will start charging the phone, but apple play will not pop up until I reset the radio. I lose my pre-sets, the time and any settings I may have changed. It's not worth it to even try to use Apple play anymore so I just use my Bluetooth and use the maps on my phone.
(4) You need to wear gloves while driving (sarcastic) because if you accidently touch the plastic interior with a fingernail the plastic will scratch. I guess the saying is true, you get what you pay for. Perhaps I should be grateful to Ford for coming out with, in today's market, an inexpensive vehicle. To me, the 28K I spent on the Maverick is still a lot of money and considered to be a major purchase.
The scratches I can deal with, the safety issues I cannot. If I am told to drive my Maverick and see if my dashboard lights up again with multiple red screens because the problem is not really fixed, it is time to change brands. Pretty sad because I love the idea of that little truck.
