First let me start this thread by saying I love my Maverick. The design team and engineering department hit the ball out of the park with this trucklet however, I most likely will never again buy another Ford product. The first 9000 miles was filled with new truck bliss as my XLT surpassed my expectations. From 9000 miles on, the trucklets electronics started to crash.
(1) My brake lights come on and stay on when traveling above 5 miles an hour then shut off again below that speed. A severe safety issue if the person behind you don't know if your actually hitting your brakes or stopping short for a road hazard. Have not taken it in to the dealer yet because I just found out about this.
(2) I lost my ABS, traction control, AWD, Stop Start feature, brake hold feature, had a transmission fault and lost all of the safety options. My dealer traced it to a steering angle sensor and told me the sensor is in a hard to reach spot and re-set the factory codes to get everything to work again, just let them know if it happens again. and they will call the Ford hotline to see what to do with it. The symptoms are temporarily gone but the cause is still not repaired. So the idea of having a peace of mind while traveling in my new Maverick is now gone.
(3) The radio system has to be reset constantly in order for apple play to work. Most of the time when I plug my phone in, it will start charging the phone, but apple play will not pop up until I reset the radio. I lose my pre-sets, the time and any settings I may have changed. It's not worth it to even try to use Apple play anymore so I just use my Bluetooth and use the maps on my phone.
(4) You need to wear gloves while driving (sarcastic) because if you accidently touch the plastic interior with a fingernail the plastic will scratch. I guess the saying is true, you get what you pay for. Perhaps I should be grateful to Ford for coming out with, in today's market, an inexpensive vehicle. To me, the 28K I spent on the Maverick is still a lot of money and considered to be a major purchase.

The scratches I can deal with, the safety issues I cannot. If I am told to drive my Maverick and see if my dashboard lights up again with multiple red screens because the problem is not really fixed, it is time to change brands. Pretty sad because I love the idea of that little truck.

The lights issue - clearly a problem.

The interior delicacy issues, I don't know. I drove an XL for 2,000 miles in 1 month and did not baby it at all. I didn't observe any delicacy of any interior materials.

Thanks for posting and for being direct and descriptive. I know experiences like yours are not common, but it doesn't make them easy to read. While I plan to just drive my truck without any extra babying, stuff like this will always be in the back of my mind-though I'm sure you can find similar stuff with any brand or manufacturer...some people just win the lemon lottery. I hope that the safety issues go away and stay away-I agree, those can be terrifying.

I think Ford both hit, and missed their market. They aimed for people like me (30s, outdoorsy) and marketed a small truck, an offer that hasn't been on the market in like 10-15 years (good). I don't think they realized that most people buying aren't actually in their 30s (my subjective opinion, but gained by watching here and reddit and yt), they're in fact older, and that a lot of the 'value' sacrifices were a miss on the people who are actually buying the product. That said, the competition is even worse: Santa Cruz is aimed at the same market and also missed (I don't know many people my age with money to blow on a Mav, even fewer who can afford a SC). If that Chevy small truck is even real...well...I''ve got an overwhelmingly low opinion of their products. All of the small truck competitors will be giving the same product with the variation being on "luxury" features instead of "practicality". I'd like a small, functional truck that doesn't have a huge cab (which eats the bed...) and that doesn't have a luxury or cheap interior.

Mav fits what I want and need and like the best, so that's what I'm going for.

Sorry for taking your post OP to post my mini-rant. Its not directed at you of course lol, I hope your safety issues go away and you regain confidence in your vehicle. If it doesn't, then by all means go find something else. Confidence behind the wheel is an absolute requirement.

I just bought a 2022 Chevy Bolt, and it has a modern 10.2" touch screen with all the features and great graphics. I am really worried about the Maverick's outdated, wonky infotainment system. It seems like it'll be a real downgrade from even what I used to have in my Chevy Cruze.

As for the safety issues, having the dealer reset the sensor without actually fixing anything is pretty scary. I'd suggest trying a different dealer if it happens again.

Get that sensor replaced. Same thing happened on a focus same symptoms you describe. Sensor fixed all those problems

We got the new Bolt EUV wireless android auto disconnects and reconnects at least once whenever I drive. It's really annoying I tried disabling wireless android auto but it causes connectivity issues. I prefer wired just plug it in when I want it the rest of the time stream from Bluetooth.

You didn't say if your truck has the 4K towing package, but I read a thread about the brake light issue. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/brake-lights.15811/
Some guys adjusted the gain to 3.5 and that helped, but it ultimately sounds like a hardware/software issue. geekjoh had his brake module replaced and reprogrammed and that solved his issue.

Just curious, you made a post wiring your bed switches in. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...s-and-switch-panel-install.15828/#post-306834
are All connections correct ? I'm avoiding all that stuff for a while myself.... Again I'm not a tech but electrical bugs can be simple issues as I've learned in other vehicles. I'm sure it will be fixed, that's what warranties are for ! And added ESP plan would get you a loaner ... Good luck and hope it all works out.

Hopefully your State has a Lemmon Law,and you can force your dealer and Ford to take back the truck and give you a full refund

Sorry about your experienceRonnie ! But i want to tell all the guys and gals waiting on there trucks, dont let stuff like this get you down, ive had my XLT Fx4 4K since Nov 1st and i now have 17,000 trouble free miles on it. Its by far the vehicle ive enjoyed the most, i tow my boat and haul my 4x8 utility trailer every chance i get(i make excuses);) , its quiet and fast and still looks like new inside out. Fun fact I drive a (2022 F750) in my other life so I go from driving the biggest Ford to the smallest Ford.
