Good morning everyone,

Put my 22 loaded A51 XLT Hybrid for sale on the forum 10 days or so ago. Despite being in excellent shape and low mileage and priced below what I could get from Vroom, no one has reached out to me for any additional information or questions.

Any advice? I was trying to stay away from Craigslist etc. and I can always sell it to Vroom, but thought a MTC member who may be tired of waiting would be interested in an almost new truck with 2 years of warranty left.

I am only selling because I have a 23 Lariat (same color) that has shipped.

Thank you in advance, this forum is fantastic and I am looking to keep the Lariat for a long time.

Take the Vroom offer if you want the cash right away. If not I'd offer it to a family member, neighbor, friend who needs a new vehicle that is hard up but not a deadbeat for payments and do them a solid. Though as an insurance policy I'd have a late payment clause maybe 90 days of nonpayment or not paid in full they lose the vehicle and also install a remote engine cutoff with gps tracker incase things do go sideways.

You'll have better luck listing locally.

Hurry up and wait ;)

I'm guessing from the price that you're asking more than you paid? That could be part of the problem now that production constraints appear to have eased somewhat. Financing a used vehicle from a private party is harder and the interest rates are higher as well.

If it were mine, I'd take the Vroom offer if it's still valid. Then you have the cash and there's no chance of someone complaining about any problems that may pop up after the sale. I'd also see what the dealer is willing to offer in trade since that may mitigate sales tax on the new truck.

The Vroom price seems low especially since yours has the LUX package.

I have had higher offers from Carvana that Vroom.

Carvana paid me $31,404 for my Maverick XLT Hybrid (non-LUX) with 9,269 miles on it.

Sold my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid

Sold my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid that has these factory options added:
Co-Pilot360 + Rear Sliding Window + 110V/400W Outlet in Cab
Also added aftermarket: Hard Drop-In Bedliner + Rear Splash Guards + Front Windows Tinted

Sold to Carvana on 8/28/2023 for $31,404
That price is $5,335.79 over my out-the-door price of $26,068.21
and $7,228.15 over MSRP price of $24,175.85 which includes delivery charge

Not bad for a used vehicle that I have had for 1 3/4 years and 9,269 miles.
Your Maverick has lower mileage than mine and more features.
It should sell for more.

might be better off on the valuation with trade-in towards the new one - that's my plan at least for the '24 that just got scheduled

Dealer said they would go KBB, which is lower than Vroom.

Carvana and KBB are both less than Vroom. Vroom has consistently been higher for my 18938 zip code.

How much lower is KBB? If you trade it in for that amount, how much sales tax will you save on the Lariat? When you account for that, how does it net out against Vroom?

KBB was 28 and change. Sales tax in PA is 6% so still come out ahead with Vroom but the numbers will be changing.

I can't sell until I know when the new Mav is in. I appreciate your input as well as everyone else.

Do the numbers with the trade in and sales tax savings. It might be smarter trading it. When I did the numbers on mine it was definitely better to trade. Good luck and happy to hear you stayed with the best color!

This is the results of trading in my MY22 and selling outright to one of the online companies:

I had Carvana, Vroom, CarMax, KBB and the AutoNation Dealership where my MY23 Maverick is being delivered later this month make offers on buying/trading-in my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid.

These were the offers I received from worst to best:

The absolute worst: KBB offer of $27,420
2nd worst: CarMax: $28,500
Middle: AutoNation: $27,250 + $1,646.88 tax savings = $28,896.88
2nd Best: Vroom: $29,896
Best: Carvana: $31,404

Carvana was $1,508 higher than the next best offer (Vroom) and $3,984 higher than the worst (KBB)

The AutoNation Dealership offer of "$27,250 + $1,646.88 sales tax savings = $28,896.88" was overall $2,507.12 worst than the Carvana offer even considering the sales tax savings.

A year ago in upstate NY Driveway.com offered me the best price on my '22 xl hybrid. Only sold it because I learned I needed 4k, and found one. So it might be worth checking them out too
