So now make it on the actual gas price, or at least more realistic gas price. With Joe's hate of fossil fuel I would imagine that by memorial day the national average is going to be more along the line of $4.25-4.50. Right now, where I live, no-ethanol 91 octane is running $5.29/gal (and running ethanol gets lower mpg)For mixed hwy / city driving on a 2.0L ecoboost you should see an increase from 25 - 26 MPG to 28 to 29ish MPG if you stay in eco mode exclusively. For hwy only at least 32 1/2 MPG to 33ish if you stick to 75 MPH or less.
Without going through all the math assume a constant gas price of $3.50, the tank fillups are 15 gallons and you travel 12k miles each year. If you average 29 MPG that will cost $1470 rounding up for gas yearly, with eco mode now you average 32.5 MPG that will cost instead $1313 rounding up for gas yearly instead. Ultimately it saves you about $157 in gas using eco mode based on that estimate.
