Well, sure, the hybrid gets better MPG in mixed-mode (city+hwy) driving, but it costs more up front. Not sure what they are trying to illustrate here beyond that

Yup, no “shocker” from this video. I know the my26 hybrid costs more, but theirs was a LOT more $$ although they were both XLTs.

I laughed at making a fuss over the 19" rims on the white Mav. Well, yeah, it has the BAP. Not exactly comparing XLT to XLT

Watched this one before work this morning, and while no surprises there, I could certainly see how saving a whole gallon every 100miles could easily cover the $1K price gap in just a year or two for many...

I wish they would have stated the total miles on each vehicle. My 25 hybrid didn't loosen-up until it reached 4,000 miles!
I have yet to take a significant highway trip, but I think I would be hard pressed to get 40MPG IMO.

Is why the Ecoboost was chosen by this old gasser !

11:50-1153, Truth !

I want to feel a cars soul, a heartbeat.

To me the Mavbrid is a very efficient
Overpriced Golf cart. Once it’s a plug in I might get one, 40 plus mpg is hard not to like.

Anybody remember the V-8 F-150’s of the 1970’s ?
The 1971, 74 and 75, Even the 1980 F-150 was a bad ass.
Especially if you had the balls to tell your wife, “We’re getting the 4X4”
And actually follow through with it.

Truck first,
Wife, they are replaceable.

Im with you 100%

Respect to the people trying to maximize mpg and look at it as just a utility vehicle that serves a purpose.

But I like personality in a vehicle

Its why I bought the Lobo ...and after 45 days of ownership I've put 300 miles on it lol would take me 30 years to make up the difference trim for trim lol

Less than 60-65mph with more changes in mph will result in better mpg moreso if less than 57mph, generally speaking.

With the current prices, I'm incredibly happy i have a hybrid. Also, 191 horsepower is plenty for a truck that small, y'all can keep your ecoboosts -- I'll go buy a nice steak dinner with the money I'm saving 😆

I wish that had done some quick math on the spot - or had it worked out almost - how many gallons difference in gas, or driving, would it take using their route until the extra expense for the hybrid was break even with the savings - at current prices.

That was a long video for coming to an obvious conclusion.

For many of us, the Hybrid was the cheaper model. The private offer when rolling from 22-23 was 1000 higher to offset the increase in Hybrid cost. - Happy to have went Hybrid, 50 mpg & lower cost.

I agree 100% I want to hear the engine, I want to hear the shifting, I just traded my hybrid for a Lobo, the hybrid was a good vehicle and great commuter, I missed my 22 FX4 I had am retired don't drive much 5k year, I enjoy driving and look forward to getting in my maverick every day even if its only 5/10 miles a day, friends think am crazy especially with gas prices at around 4.50 a gal, its OK they will come down.

The Hybrid also has a sport Mode setting if you don't want to drive in ECO mode. Plus even in ECO mode the Hybrid has plenty of pickup. In Sport mode it is even quicker. So overall the Hybrid is the clear winner. The extra money you pay at the purchase will be made up quickly. Especially when the THUGS on Wall Street and the Greedy Thug Oil companies are gouging the consumers as they are now.

Outside of the fuel economy, the hybrid has a couple of cool things. Remote start to bring the cabin to your desired temperature. And the eCVT is an engineering wonder. It should last 200k miles and is incredibly smooth.
