I don't think slow-cookers/crock pots have been mentioned in this thread yet. They draw below 400 watts even on high settings. It may not seem practical at first if you're thinking of doing the entire 8+ hour cooking time required all from the bed of your truck. But you could fully or partially cook your meal ahead of time and just use the outlet in the back to keep it hot or finish cooking.

Lets say you get off early from work on Friday, grab the family and head into the wild, set your tent up as night falls, and then instead of having to focus on making dinner, you just serve up your piping hot kalua pork over a bed of rice. Mmmm.
Good idea!

I did a lot of online searching for coffee makers that meet the 400W threshold. I found a single cup brew model online at Walmart that reportedly draws exactly 400 watts. I could not find any multi cup versions under 400w. I purchased and found the stamping on the bottom indicate only 350 watts and so it definitely meets the requirements. I did a test brew and it worked okay and will use for camping/tailgating. See pics below of model and test.

Walmart Canada list it at 300w, either way I'm grabbing one of these!

i've used my rear cabin 400w plug to power tons of things when i go truck bed camping: tv, heating pad on a cold night, laptop on remote work day, mini fridge on a hot day, etc... it was the best $150 option ever :)
How often does the engine kick in when you are using a heating pad overnight or a mini fridge during the day?

While it can't run a miter saw or even a circular saw it can charge your batteries while tackling a project that requires those tools. Ask me how I know....

You might be able to find a battery powered miter saw that could be charged from the 400W outlet. Just check the battery charger's draw rate to be sure it is within the 400W limit.
Buy a 1k or 2k pure sine wave inverter with built in battery which will charge from 12v dc line (for efficiency). The 2k one was on sale for $1200 recently. Do not remember exactly but it was about 9"x11"x15" and had many ac & dc & USB plugs. (The gf can blow dry her hair while you brew 12 cups of coffee).

You should try to find a new coffee maker, smth simple, no bells and whistles. Just coffee that doesn't require you to jump through a burning hoop to make it. You should look through a reviewer https://www.stayroasted.com/coffee-makers/ maybe you'll find smth, I have the sixth one, simple and cheap.

I wonder if it would run a small rice cooker - looks like they start around 400w.

I'm not an electrician, but would definitely check this out with someone who knows. While at an outdoor fair, they supplied "battery carts" with car or boat batteries ganged so we could use power tools. We plugged in our cordless battery chargers and they all were fried. Worked fine for plug in tools.
