Debating this too! I love the look of this setup but with a lift, I dont want to wish I had gone up a size...or twoGot a question do you think someone could go up one more size to a 255/65 17? Or if one would need a leveling kit first? I'm debating my lift after seeing your setup if I could fit 255 not sur I'd lift it till after the first set is bald. @CLH917
Crappy selection of 235/70’s. 235/75’s look weird too me, too much sidewall and because 245/65’s look goooood…What's the obsession with 245/65 instead of 235/70 or 235/75, when looking for taller tires?
Oh your truck looks great. Don't get me wrong.Crappy selection of 235/70’s. 235/75’s look weird too me, too much sidewall and because 245/65’s look goooood…
I wanted this size, but now owning the truck and having the 245/65’s I don’t think it would work without trimming or cutting some stuff.I wonder how a 245/70-17 would fair.
Should be an extra 1/2 inch.
Really a toss up at the 235 size. They’re both great. In 245 the tipping point for me was the extra 4lbs per corner of unsprung weight saved by the Toyo’s.Wife's rig needs new tires and just happen to also take 225/65/17. Thinking of swapping my Pirellis onto her car and moving to Toyo or Falkens. I think I will only go to 235 though. At that size, any appreciable benefits to one or the other? Sounds like the Falken is actually less aggressive looking in that size??
Yeah they look super close at 235. Toyo actually listed as 3lbs heavier. Falkens sound like they may be quieter but I am a little put off at the fact that it sounds like the 235 do not have the same design as the larger sizes of Wildpeak do. Toyo also have higher mileage warrantyReally a toss up at the 235 size. They’re both great. In 245 the tipping point for me was the extra 4lbs per corner of unsprung weight saved by the Toyo’s.
https://m.tirerack.com/tires/rating...ck+AWD&autoModClar=Lariat&fromTireDetail=truePirelli's are usually very highly rated so I wouldn't venture to call them junk. I just put some Pirelli Scorpions Verde Plus 2's on another car and they are excellent tires.
The Pirellii Scorpian ATR's which I believe are the stock tires on the Maverick have good ratings in everything except some people complain about them in SNOW however there are also other people who say they are great in snow so I think a lot may depend on the vehicle. I read a review of a guy with a WRX that said they were awesome in snow...but that's with a WRX
That being said I think the larger agressive tires look badass.
Discount tire is 1000 feet from my dealer so I plan to drive straight there and buy their certificates if I want to keep my oem's. OR buy bfg Trail-terrain T/A 245/65/17 and new wheels get their 4 with wheels discount plus trade in Xtra low milage OEM tires on hopefully unscratched OEM rims (may return oems to dealer if they offered more) while not forgetting to buy certificates on new tires. If I let Discount know what I am going to do, I bet they will have an XL buyer on call for my XLT LUX wheels with either oem tires or new something's!I have an XL on order so I am going to attempt the same plan.... I was originally intending on having the wheels and tires ready to go as soon as the the truck is delivered but if I can get a credit for the OEM tires then I'll just have the new rims ready and waiting. Will also save me from having to buy new TPMS sensors.

My obsession is load rating..depending on which tires 225/65/17=102H, 235/65/17=104H 245/65/17=108T(different tire and about 36lbs) among other things +/-What's the obsession with 245/65 instead of 235/70 or 235/75, when looking for taller tires?
