Directions on painting the XL steel wheels:

You want to pressure wash the rims first to get any debris off then sand it with 600-800 grit sandpaper and the factory silver color comes off very easy.

Then pressure wash again and wipe clean.

Let it dry then place index cards in-between the rim and tire to protect the tires from over spray.

Then just use a rim specific spray paint and put 3-4 coats of paint on.

looks great!! I think that’s a smart approach/set up w/hybrid When you want a great look trying to spend as little as possible, looks better than half the people spending a fortune on wheels and rims, congrats

Excellent consideration, if you look at the mpg of people on this forum with A/T tires doesn’t seem to be too bad,up to the size. After a lot more vehicle data is disclosed a more definitive assessment could be made about mpg hit for this size AT tires…

Well, the MPG is just half of it, though I do find it strange hybrid owners would make this tradeoff. Perhaps more curious is the notion of off-roading in any fashion with a hybrid Mav, given the application of A/T tires. Nothing about that model is equipped for that hobby, and hybrid owners aren't fooling anybody.
