Like some of you I have, well had, a 22 Maverick order with a VIN assigned and a repeatedly moved build date. Now I'll be among the roughly 2,900 of us that will have that order canceled and rolled over into a 23.

I talked to my dealership on Friday and confirmed three things. My order will be getting replaced with a 23 order, I will be able to make changes, and those orders like mine that are being rolled over will get priority (subject to constraints).

I looked for more info and wasn't able to find any. Likely Ford hasn't released the details on the process yet. I wonder how they are going to keep track of which orders should have what priority.

Yes, you will have your order rolled over to a 2023 model. By all accounts this is impacting roughly 7,000 orders.

Ford is going to have to move the orders over because the order bank for 23 is already shut down. The exact process involved is unknown at this time.

Ford has promised they will prioritize these orders. Again details not available but the presumption is that they will get priority 2 status and will be scheduled first subject to constraints. Meaning if the problem is they don’t have the hybrid engine ready you’ll still be waiting Until they do.

Finally since there is no process yet announced it is unclear what changes you’ll be able to make to your order. For sure Ford will have to let some orders change color because at least one color for 2022 is no longer available- Velocity Blue. Packages have been altered as well.

Ford promised more information around the end of October.

Is there a link to an article that states this: "impacting roughly 7,000 orders"

I have not seen one that has had any number specified. I have only seen speculated numbers on this forum or reddit.

Far as I know it is only forum posted so yeah, take the number with a grain of salt. Post I saw was reporting 6,900 based on a talking to customer service. But it is the only number we have at the moment. Since there were hybrid builds scheduled through the end of November so it is a believable number.

We probably will never know the actual number. Tim Bartz said on his livestream that Long McArthur had 19 that were getting canceled. Most dealers would have fewer than that.

If I do see a story with a number I'll be sure to post it.

I called Ford Customer Service today (10/24) to check on the status of my order (10/11/21). Confirmed what I already knew about being converted over to a 23MY. I asked when my VIN would be changed over to reflect a 23MY. What surprised me was the rep told me my VIN would remain the same. How can that be? My understanding every VIN has a code that reflects 'MY'. No other information was available other than I was told Ford expects to have answers around the end of the month (October). The question is, will the 22MY orders being rolled over into 23MY get a new VIN that reflects 23MY. Better yet, anyone knows how the VIN break down works? I understand the last 5 numbers reflect the number of the vehicle being built. Here's the first part of my VIN: 3FTTW8E37NRB*****. So the last 5 numbers reflect the number built. What signifies Model Year (MY). Basically how do you read this VIN number? Let me guess . . . the "F" stands for "Ford".

Great information. Thanks so much. You're awesome. So what customer service told me is incorrect. The 'N' in my VIN represents a 22MY. So my VIN will HAVE TO change to reflect a 23MY and that letter will be a 'P'. I imagine the last 6 will also probably change to.
