Many people have complained about the removal of physical buttons. I don't like it either, but you can at least change your temperature set point using voice commands. This will certainly work better when using AUTO climate mode, and if you are a diehard button-pushing 'manual' climate mode adherent, you'll probably not be happy with even this. (Suggestion: just use auto. It is smarter than you think.)

The owner's manual tells you to push the assistant button on the right side of the steering wheel, or you can set it up for a wake word/phrase. (I believe the default is "OK Ford".)

Here is a list of commands. These are NOT in the manual, however, you can ask the system to list commands. Why Ford did not put these in the manual... I honestly do not know. Navigation commands will require connected navigation. Lariat, Tremor and Lobo have connected navigation and a 1 year subscription, then you'll have to pay for the built-in nav features. I would not be surprised if the charger questions fail, since Mavericks are not PHEV or BEV, but I haven't confirmed this.

Technology is great until it stops working. I can speak from experience when I say that a tactile button is much easier to troubleshoot and fix at home than touch screens and virtual assistants built into autos.

There's been articles of late talking about auto manufacturers actually going back to physical buttons on climate and audio functions due to customer feedback. Seeing Ford go away from that isn't vanguard, and instead rather tone deaf.

Can't you just tap the + or - symbol to change cabin temp setpoint? Sure it's not physical like twisting a knob left or right but since those symbols are static on the screen is should be fairly straight forward.

EDIT: Also, the 2025 Maverick does not come with Synce4A but rather Synce4. While the differences are minor they are there.

Interesting, it looks like you're right about that. I don't think there are any practical differences between them, but I'll edit the title anyway.

Very much agreed. I feel that Ford's redesign was/is very foolish, and it definitely makes me think twice about buying a 2025.

I’ve been in a lot of awful new luxury cars that try to get rid of every button possible, (Land/Range Rovers are the biggest offenders) and the thing that ruins them all is they hide climate controls behind multiple menus and/or button presses and dial spins.
I’m not a fan of not having the physical buttons but this is by far one of the better implementations because the climate controls are always persistent and you never have to dig for them.
I for one will probably have CarPlay up 100% of the time anyway so I’m not really worried about navigating to anything else in the system.

This is good to hear! Have you tried using any voice commands for climate functions?

My bad, I haven’t even gotten my truck yet, lol. But I’ve driven a few other fords for work with the vertical screen version and I don’t find it to be a big issue. I may use the voice commands if they work easily.

I’m a big fan of auto climate control, and Fords works really well. I might only adjust temperature by a degree at best.

set it and forget it.

I didn't see a command for "Gimme back my buttons!"
uh, yeah. that's the point here - we can complain all you like, but in the end it's buying the truck or not buying it.

if you buy one, you should try automatic climate control and using voice commands to change the set point. as 710 mentioned, hardly any adjustment is necessary, anyway. seasonal changes based on the clothing you're wearing, and maybe some minor tweaks if you're on a long drive.

The more I read about the '25, the happier I am that I decided to cancel the order last summer and keep my '24 Lariat.

Interesting how people can vary in tastes...I am just the opposite of you. I have the 22 Lariat EB and I am so excited about the improvements in MY 25...dual import engine, bigger screen with Sync 4, the pro trailer assist package (game changer imho) and the availability of Eruption Green. The front end and HVAC controls only on the screen does NOT bother me at all.

I mostly agree.

I've driven my FIL's 2016? Dodge Journey a number of times and it has mostly on-screen controls. 8 model years ago! The real nuisance for me is heated seats. I like them in winter, but I don't want them on 3 very long at all - just a few minutes. Then I want them on 1.

I don't think you can adjust them with voice commands and it will be pretty annoying losing the buttons.

BUT

I would order a 2025 Maverick no question if I needed a truck today. What else would a person do?
