We have been receiving customer questions about the new 2025 Maverick and exhaust fitment. So, we took the chance to head over to SEMA Garage Detroit to check out the new 2025 Maverick.

Here’s what we found:

✅ Exhaust System Compatibility: From our initial inspection, it looks like existing exhaust systems will fit without any issues. The key exhaust hanger locations remain unchanged.

🔧 Notable Updates:

Ford appears to have added a clamp and made a slight switch to the non-reporting secondary catalyst.
The muffler section remains the same, which means our MRT full exhaust will install.
Our Sidekicks use the factory hanger and an additional hanger at the same location—no interference detected.
For FWD vs. AWD models, the main difference is in the front hanger point. On AWD models, it’s mounted to the body, while on FWD models, it attaches to the muffler.
Overall, this is great news for Maverick owners looking to upgrade their exhausts, as no major redesigns appear necessary.

If you have any questions, drop them below! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

In the video you mention the secondary cat seemed different; in what way (besides the clamp at the rear)?

I have noticed that the stock exhaust sound on the ‘25 is much louder than my ‘22. Including being louder in the cabin and even has a droning sound. My ‘22 was an early one with the full resonator at the rear, so not sure if that alone is causing the difference.

Will be interesting to see if that has any impact on your exhaust sounds.

The secondary non-reporting cat we're familiar with typically has a center inlet and outlet, whereas the design on the 25 features an offset inlet and outlet. Additionally, their overall shapes appear to be different. While we're not entirely sure if or how this might affect the exhaust presence, we don't expect it to change too drastically.

It will interesting see what you find out when you get a chance to try a ‘25.

It's sure going to be interesting if that second cat actually makes changes in sound
At this point, I am thinking it has to be the second cat. When I took it to the dealer, we went to the lot and started a ‘24 and a ‘25. The ‘25 was loud like mine. The ‘24 seemed closer to my ‘22 (i.e. quieter than the ‘25). So that kind of says the full resonator change to the patch might not the cause. They looked up the part number for the muffler and it showed the same for ‘24 and ‘25.
The engine did change, but one would think it would cause a louder sound, but at that point I figured maybe it does. Or a bad batch of parts.
Then seeing this video and mention of the cat being different has got me wondering about the cat.

Likely a change in catalyst density to reduce back pressure once the catalyst/GPF combo unit starts getting installed at the factory and allows them to keep power ratings the same

It's a gas particulate filter (diesel guys know of these as diesel particulate filters have been on them for a while). Ford started introducing them on Lincolns about 2 years ago, and now the new Mavericks, Bronco Sports and Escapes have them and is the reason for the drop in horsepower. Looks like it could be easily removed without issues since there is no emissions monitor in them.

Problem is that's the opposite of what we've been being told by Ford on here, those filters aren't supposed to show up until job 3

That is what I was thinking as well.

We have several options for Maverick Including our Full Length and Sidekick exhaust systems. I would suggest checking out our Maverick product page to see all the options and hear sound clips. All of our Maverick systems include free shipping.
