Since both the hybrid and EB have the same capacity w 4kTow packages, maybe someone can clarify why anyone buys the EB that gets lower mpg? I would get it if there was a 5 or 6 k tow package on EB? From what I read tow folks are happy w the hybrid for up to 4k but don’t think I have read any reviews or other comparisons between EB and hybrid on towing performance. If no big dif, then the answer to your question is”mistake” question might be “ didn’t select the hybrid”. ?
I have had several hybrids and the MPG is great; I just wanted something with a little more power; a little more get up and go for my last new vehicle. My money, my choice. Not saying that it should be yours That with the towing was what I was looking to achieve

You sound exactly like me. I've had 2 hybrid Mavericks and I now own an EcoBoost. No regrets.

I thought the changes Ford made on the 2.0L Ecoboost, with the exception of the GPF, would be a big improvement; hope the GPF is not going to be a big problem. Thanks for the reply, enjoy

The GPF can be removed.
It may not be legal but it can definitely be removed, which will require remapping by a talented Tuner.
Just drive the truck as is. Only consider modification or removal if it gives problems. Otherwise, I recommend just leaving it alone.

Thanks. Got it now.
It’s like my old F250 with DPF. No joy in having that feature. Got display whenever the DPF being scorched, and truck needs be driver few miles to complete the burn cycle. And burn lil bit more fuel.
The gasoline filter will probably not be nearly as noticeable as the diesel filter since gasoline engines produce much fewer particulates in the first place.

GAS EXHAUST PARTICULATE FILTER, it strangles 13 HP off the EB.
That is not true. Ford engineers believed that in the beginning, but have announced that a Maverick with a GPF still has 250 HP. search this forum and you will find the threads.

Just means you can’t baby that turbo 🤣. Get those exhaust gas temps hot and you’ll be fine.

Understand and agree. Many ICE powered vehicles have Cat feature too. Guess not enough.

likely gives Ford a reason to void your Warranty

Ford could void the warranty for removal of GPF. I am not a big fan of DPF or GPF for reasons stated in this video. Added cost, performance degrade of 5-10%, cost of replacement GPF, typically a few thousand, (yes they do fail or wear out), difficulty to diagnose with issues in software, wiring issues, and 2-4 sensors that will need replaced at some point. I won't buy a vehicle with a GPF or DPF, but that is just me. This guy did an excellent job of explaining the entire system. He does not appear to be a fan, probably because he works on them frequently. I have a good friend owns a diesel repair shop, takes care of a couple of large fleets. Truckers and trucking companies spent a LOT of money on these systems as they are troublesome and break down frequently. Very costly if you own a fleet of vehicles. Hope you like the video!

I have already see it. I am not a fan of GPF's for the reasons you have stated. I have made many posts/replys on this issue. I worry that my Ford dealer service dept will not have the expert mechanics to address/repair these systems. I should have researched GPFs before buying a 2025 Ecoboost; that's on me. But from here on out I will try to stay ahead of this issue. The 2 positives that I find are gas engines produce less particulates than diesels. and dual injection should help the 2025 Ecoboosts.

There are a few more positives than the 2 you mentioned. The 25 EB also has aluminum valve covers instead of plastic. And a more robust oil separator - don’t need a catch can please. Also don’t need a “cold air intake” - since the the new OEM intake is like a ramjet.

I believe the stated HP of 250 is actually understated on the 25EB - so the GPF EB can still state “250” without false advertising.

The 2026 F-150 needed to reduce the advertised HP down by 18hp on the GPF ecoboost…maybe because the original 400hp was already pushing the limit of false advertising?

Edit - oh I forgot…the 25EB has the 300T option available. Big Turbo 300HP grrrr

Why do you believe the 2.0L has more than 250 HP; very interested to hear what you have discovered. Also the block has been beefed up, with increased cooling ability, and some stamped parts have been replaced with forged ones. There is more but I can't remember. Fing too old!!
