I just traded in my 2024 Lariat hybrid for a 2025 AWD Lariat hybrid with 4K tow, even in AZ I find the my new truck has a GPF. Did I make a terrible mistake, I was wanting the trailer assists with the newer model and the increased towing capacity. When I Google the experiences of European Ford Ecoboost customers, who have been dealing with this issues for years the results are mixed. Most have few issues, but some have experienced increased maintenance and very costly repairs. In short "Did I sign up for a constant maintenance problem?"

Hybrids don’t have GPFs. Did you mean your new truck is an EB?

If so, the GPF will require you to do a free Italian Tuneup occasionally - that is a fun feature not a bug:)

These things would have been far more popular if they partnered with Hewlett Packard, Canon, Brother or someone and had a shared housing design for exchangeable cartridges... then it would have been all "Print for free, recharge your laser toner while you drive!"

Many knew the GPF’s were coming - especially on this forum. Ford made it clear they were. They actually delayed intro because of shortages. I made sure my 25 EB did not have one by peeking under the truck before purchase. That said, the 25 EB is an all new engine and all us 25 EB owners are “test pilots”…

The F-150 will start getting GPFs soon also.

I was aware that GPFs would be in the some of the 2025 Ecoboosts, however to my deep regret I did not realize how significant the GPF system would be. I should have done more research. In my ignorance it never occurred to me that one would almost have to have the knowledge of an automotive engineer (about GPFs) in order to buy a new Maverick. Boy was I stupid! No use crying over spilled milk. I will just have to stay on top of this issue; and do the utmost to achieve the best possible outcome from here on. Thanks to all for the input.

Drive the truck. Let the GPF do it's thing. Most likely you won't even notice it's there. Most of the various components operate in the background. If the diesels are any indication, while there's the occasional and EXTREMELY rare major issue, most problems are confined to being the occasional failed sensor. And even that is happening a lot less frequently than before. Chances are you won't notice anything.

GPF might be more reliable than DPF's, as the soot load is a fraction. However DPF problems are not EXTREMELY rare, they are very common. I have several diesel tractors with DPF's and some are trouble free and some are one CEL after another. Limp mode. Ask owners of pickup trucks how trouble free DPF's are. Wonder why all of the big 3 tried 1/2 ton diesels and quit?

Hope you are right, time will tell. At least I don't have cold weather issues. Other than dealing with "breaking in" , the first 450 miles has been great.

Sorry, trying to figure this one…GPF. Meaning?
GPF
Ford is implementing Gasoline Particulate Filters (GPFs) in its newer turbocharged direct injection (GDI) engines, like the 3.5L EcoBoost (2026 F-150) and 2.0L EcoBoost (2025 Maverick), to meet stricter emissions by trapping soot and fine particles, similar to diesel filters but designed for less frequent regeneration, mainly needed for short trips or cold starts, with passive regeneration occurring during normal driving. These filters, common in Europe, are required for some U.S. states (CARB states) and reduce emissions sign.
VS
DPF
A diesel particulate filter (DPF) is a filter that captures and stores exhaust soot (some refer to them as soot traps) in order to reduce harmful emissions ...

Thanks. Got it now.
It’s like my old F250 with DPF. No joy in having that feature. Got display whenever the DPF being scorched, and truck needs be driver few miles to complete the burn cycle. And burn lil bit more fuel.

I also have a mercedes diesel and its implementation is very non-obtrusive. Keep it filled with DEF and keep on driving.
