This post is to introduce myself (and my Maverick) to the forum. I would like to start that I am not really a “car guy” and for me, my vehicles are for practical purposes (transportation and utility). That being said, I LOVE my Maverick! It helps that it does the job of both my two previous vehicles and does them better.

I have two needs for vehicles:
  • Transportation: I have a daily commute of 40 miles each way, mostly on highways. For this, I have been using a 2014 Ford Focus.
  • Utility: I need a vehicle to pull my boat (approx. 3000 lbs.) and to do typical truck things (dump runs, etc.) For this, I have been using a 2003 Ford F-150.
Three issues led me to searching for a replacement for the car and the truck:
  • Insurance costs: Every year my insurance costs were increasing, and with a total of four vehicles in my household (wife and kid also have cars), the total insurance costs were getting out of hand.
  • Repair costs: The Focus was developing transmission issues, and the F-150 was starting to rust away.
  • Space: I could not fit all four cars in my driveway, one was parked in the street. Not a major problem but this annoyed me.
My first thought was to replace with a full size or midsize pickup truck, however the purchase cost, the MPG and the size of these vehicles were not ideal. I commute to work every day and simply could not see myself driving a large truck every day (with the above liabilities) through Baltimore traffic.

As commuting is such a big part of my life, I was resigned to simply buying a car or SUV and losing the utility that the pickup offers, then I saw a Maverick! I did a fair amount of research (mostly on this forum) and was intrigued.

Based upon my needs and wants I was interested in a Maverick with AWD and the 4K towing package. The better mileage of the hybrid was appealing but since most of my driving is on highways and my towing needs, the 2.0 EcoBoost was the best fit for me. I know that for 2025 the hybrid will come with AWD and 4K - but I do not have the patience to wait.

I went to my local Ford Dealer and I found my Maverick, a beautiful 2024 Azure Gray XLT with BAP, 4K, XLT Luxury package, DIBL and 360.

I have had the Maverick for three months and approx. 4,000 miles and could not be happier. I am getting about 30 mpg on my commute, and it has no problem towing the boat (I was a little worried about pulling the boat up the ramp – but the maverick had no problem.) To compensate for the smaller bed size, I bought a used utility trailer, and the Maverick has made 4 dump runs with even more “junk” than I could fit in the old F-150. As an added bonus, the Maverick is fun to drive.

I have never modified or added accessories to any of my cars, but with the Maverick, I could not help myself. I used my 42,000 ford pass points to buy:
Additionally, I bought and installed:

I also purchased a no name soft rollup tonneau cover (sorry no link.) I bought this from TEMU for $75.42! It was $105.42 but I got $30 off. (after spending $35,000 ish on the maverick, I could not justify spending more at this time). For the price I certainly was not expecting much, however I was impressed with this product. It fit perfectly and does not leak. As do most soft roll-up covers, it does billow at highway speeds. To help mitigate this, I installed 1-inch heavy duty Velcro to secure the vinyl top to the cross bars. This worked and reduced the billowing significantly. I also Velcro‘ed the strap clips as they were tapping on the rear window at speed. If this cover lasts a year, I feel I will have gotten my money worth.

In order to keep the Maverick looking good and based upon suggestions on this forum, I treated the Maverick to two coats of Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wax Spray and I have used Protectant 303 – Aerospace on the vinyl. The Maverick sparkles!

Again, I love my Maverick, and I have no regrets. This is simply the best vehicle I have ever owned. I would like to thank all of you on this forum as I have found it an invaluable resource. Thank You!

Nice ride! I am new to mods as well, but I would like to get the TufSkinz Matte Black Tailgate Lettering Inserts from Ford, for my cactus gray '24 Hybrid Lariat. . How was the application process, and are you still happy with them?

Thank you - The TufSkinz Matte Black Tailgate Lettering Inserts were easy to install and took me less than 20 minutes. Clean the surface before application and you will have no problem. After nearly a year - they still look great, and I think they will last the lifetime of the truck.

What did you use to clean it with? I've got the letters, but there weren't any instructions at all in the package.

Very nice introduction...

So how is the turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wax Spray and 303 aerospace holding up? That is how long before you reapply?

I have the 303 but was thinking about some type of ceramic coating.... I think I will go with your choice ( turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wax Spray )
For the ceramic spray, did you use clay bar or machine polishing ? or just apply.....

Thanks!!!!!
