Long time lurker, new poster as now after 10 month wait, I picked up the new 2022 2.0 AWD Lariat at Granger Ford in Iowa and driving it back to Upstate NY, 1000 miles into the trip, 3 1/2 hours from home, at a rest stop, it throws an “Engine Coolant Over Temperature“ warning ”Check Engine” and now I’m in limp mode.

Ford Roadside calls a truck and I wait, finally make contact and they tell me that can’ t tow from I-90, call AAA and they pluck me out of there and to Bidleman Ford in Auburn, NY. I’m in a hotel waiting for my wife for a rescue. Bidleman can’t look at it until Monday.

I talk with Ford Customer Care this morning and what they offer me is reimbursement for towing.

My question - does anyone have experience in a similar situation with Ford? I’ve asked to speak with a supervisor with my case number on Monday. Any ideas how to better escalate this or to have Ford do the right thing? Thanks!

Why not see how it shakes out, and then react accordingly? Seems like steps are being taken to sort it out. What is it you want right now, that hasn't happened?

"My question - does anyone have experience in a similar situation with Ford?"

That's what they want. To see if anyone else has had a similar situation and how it worked out. Perhaps someone else had this happen and found one way of handling it worked better than another. Pushing for one fix versus another that ended up not correcting the issue, etc...

Possible, I suppose... OP was driving in cold weather on the trip; certainly not like summer! Coolant level, or perhaps a faulty sensor?

I was referring to the second part of OP's question. 1A seems clear enough. ;)

Maybe like Hotel expense, delivery to his home town or some type credit for having to travel back to get it after repair.

Always best to stay ahead the situation

Maybe Granger should step up. OP traveled hundreds of miles to them to buy the truck.

The combustion chamber does not know what season it is. They can over heat if its -40. The combination of grill shutters over the radiator/intercooler and cover under the engine is a heat trap. Heat breaks things. I believe if the shutters fail it does throw a code.
