I find this hard to believe with mostly highway miles. Hybrid mileage drops on the highway. I’ve gotten 60+ mpg around town. But have never gotten over 35-36 at highway speeds of 65-70. Believe me I’ve tried, but it’s not possible unless it’s all down hill.
It’s because he’s driving at state rd. It performs very well under 55mph. So it’s not hard to get that range. But once you get on interstate and drive at 80mph, it will drop a lot

I have no idea how can you get +/- 700 mile per tank, with less than 14 gallons in your tank and 38 mpg. Sounds interesting, and may be there is an explanation.

I have a 2022 FE Hybrid. Getting max 43 mpg, and total milage per tank of max 540 miles !! I am constantly hyper mile ling, with auto speed control, never more than 10% over speed limit, driving really conservative, and that its. 80% highway driving (50 to 70 milesper hour). (Central Florida 64 to 80 degrees temp). Total mileage so far: 4500 miles.

I would love to get into de 600 miles Club. !!
Can I get in the 600 mile club? I don’t have a Hybrid. Mine is a 22 Lariat EB AWD. I know it’s got a larger tank, but that should be offset by its EPA rating being so much less than the hybrid. Trip last week average speed 60 mph 95/5 highway/city. 605.7 miles/16.1 gallons which comes out to 37.6mpg. Don’t know how the computer figures the miles to empty, as that picture was taken immediately after fill up before I reset trip. I’d pulled away from pumps and was sitting in parking lot next to pumps.

250 down and 220 to go! That's not even 500 on a tank of gas. I drive like a stupid old grandpa, and a retired city bus driver, which of course I am. It's cold out and I'm on the freeway now and then, but I'm not getting the 40mpg needed to get 500 miles on a tank of gas..

If you want to split hairs, sure. Otherwise, a good comparative analysis only requires the factors that aren't negligible. For example: Aerodynamics only matter if you are driving fast enough that wind resistance plays a significant role in mpg. If you continually drive in low wind situations or at speeds that don't require a high velocity, your mpg should be "good" regardless. Altitude does play a factor in engine efficiency but it is not a significant factor unless there is a significant difference between the two vehicles being compared. It might not even matter that much for a hybrid.

We can argue details all day. My point is: chill out. Don't take life so seriously. Let's see what the data shows as time moves on and then claim someone is wrong.
LOL, sounds like you are the one that needs to "chill out."

Maybe I need to jump in mine and get a pic when I get to Walmart - 4 mi at 90% electric and avg 144 mpg. Of course this is nearly all downhill @30 mph. Using OP’s math I might get 1200 mi per tank.

694/13.8=50.2. One would have to average 50.2 on a cross country trip and that would be considered highway miles. If OP is averaging over 50 mpg on highway miles, then he has a record-setting Maverick. What I can do in my Maverick or in my Kia Niro Hybrid is to reset odometer, drive 20 or so miles mostly on EV, get an outrageous mpg - say 54-48mpg or so, then fill up and computer uses high mpg to estimate miles left on tank. That is NOT miles driven, and when you start driving on highway, it goes down quickly. 500 or so is about it on highway, but you can squeeze 600+ with a lot of city driving included.
1st of all, my cumulative mpg is 41.0 per dashboard; total miles driven are 4,080 in ‘23 XLT hybrid.

We have taken one 1,500 interstate trip (No GA to So FL & back; 1,024 elevation to sea level; & 2 drivers - wife could care less about mpg’s). Got about 38 mpg per dash (36.2 calc’d). Note: FL interstates & high ways are very flat.

Last evening, by accident (I wasn’t trying hard), I got an avg of 50.1 mpg’s (dash) on metro Atl interstates on a 56.4 mi trip in moderate to heavy traffic with a 5 ft net change in elevation but plenty of hills. I did try to drive 60-65 mph with some cruise.

So, under controlled circumstances (doing same trip 12.3 times), almost 700 miles (692) per tank (13.8 gal) would be possible.

In closing it’s my hypothesis that interstate travel in metro areas is not always destructive of fuel efficiency in Mav hybrids because of traffic congestion and hills.

This is a very testable hypothesis (scientific guess). Anyone like to try?

Honestly the only MPG stat I care to hear is the actual whole tank average MPG calculated at the next fill-up dividing the amount of miles driven per tank divided by how many gallons put into the tank.

What are people getting with that on the Hybrid, generally speaking?

We just got back from a 3,306-mile road trip from northern Washington State to Arizona and back. My 22' Lariat hybrid Mav averaged 35.8 mpg for the entire trip and performed perfectly, even through the mountains with heavy snow on the roadway. Compared to our Tesla Model 3, this truck is absolutely more comfortable (better seating position), it's quieter, it has a softer, smoother ride, and it certainly has a lot more cargo room!

Got my XL Hybrid 51 weeks ago, and am closing in on 20,000 miles. Have gotten 40.0 to 52.1 mpg - tracked every fillup. Done all out truck work, highway miles, and a nice daily commute that averages 50 mpg regularly. I have went 650-690 miles on a tank a few times, but it took ideal conditions of outside temperature, 30-45 mph speeds, and not too much heat or AC. No way you get nearly 700 miles on all highway driving at 50 mph. Show me a pic before you fill it up, then it is real proof IMHO. Here is one at half a tank on one of my best runs. The computer is about 1.5 to 2.0 mpg optimistic as compared to actual numbers.

I recently traded in a 2013 Ford C Max for my 2023 XL Mav. When the weather was good, between April to October say, I was able to get over 600 miles on the 13.3g tank in the C Max. I'm getting 550+ miles/tank with the Mav so I think 600 is possible. The 700 Mile club would be special.

My first tank of gas in my 2024 yielded 46mpg which would be 635 miles with 13.8 gallons of gas. I am currently on my second tank of gas and averaging 51mpg which would be 704 miles. I'm hoping to bring my average up to at least 52mpg this tank.
