I used to have a '98 Chevy S10 with a 2.2 automatic and the Mav is a rocket compared to that slug.
It is a little slow from a standing start but after it reaches peak torque at around 3500 rpm it really goes. I'm very pleased with the over all performance of it.

Ford fixed the biggest flaw with the 2.0EB for 2025 - that it was DI and now it is both port and direct injected that will solve the carbon build up issue.

As far as the power from the EB goes? You'll be more disappointed in the 8F35 throttling it down for the sake of efficiency.

Bottom line - she's a solid engine and you shouldn't want for too much power. I came from a Model 3 LR with acceleration pack (0-60 4.5) and it still felt plenty quick to me.

If there is a Thread about this already, sorry.

A lot of the you are driving the Maverick with the 2.0 EcoBoost engine. And I would like to get some information/insite on how this engine runs. What to expect from it. Will it get out of the way if the driver needs to get going right now?

Example, the entrance ramps to X-way are fairly long here where I live. I do not do 35 mph until I get in the #1 lane and then get up to speed. I get up to 70 mph plus before I get halfway down the ‘get on’ ramp to match traffic. My Dodge 3.5 v6 does a good job of doing that. But will this 2.0 EcoBoost engine be able to do the same??

Has anyone had engine problems? This story at www.dailydot.com, ‘Ford Escape’: Mechanic issues warning on any car with an EcoBoost engine. Here’s why, https://www.dailydot.com/news/ecoboost-engine-car-warning/
The article is about where coolant leaks into the engine cylinder. Coolant infusion, especially in these engines.

Now let's go the other direction, I am coming up to my ‘get off’ ramp, it is fairly long, and the v6 will slow the van down a good amount before I need to apply brakes. I do not come up to a STOP sign/light and slam on the brakes like I have seen other driver do. Sometimes I will down shift to the next gear. Will the Maverick let me do this?

Thanks
I have had 3 vehicles with the EcoBoost engine. 2 Ford Escapes (both company cars) and now my 2023 Maverick Lariat EB. Never had any issues with the engines. As far a power it has plenty to get it out of the way if needed. The big plus is a lot less issues/recalls then the Hybrid version now. I have No complaints at all with my vehicle

I will just say, the 2.0 is very peppy and will get you up to speed quickly. And if you’re not happy with normal mode, push the button and select sport mode and hold on. I think you’ll be surprised. It won’t match the 5.0 mustangs I’ve had but it’s not suppose to.
Had zero issues with mine, do your maintenance well, oil/filter change every 5k, full synthetic oil and tier 1 gas brands, think you will be pleased. That’s my experience

Ditto.. For Me Too..
No Issues with almost two years of ownership.. ;)

Why take social media views? I suggest you go and take a test drive or even rent one for a few days.

Not sure on downshift you will have to take your foot off the gas a ways away. The Maverick rolls a long way which incidentally helps in fuel economy. Once again though I suggest a test drive or rent one for a few days. It's an incredible truck, most likely the reason they are selling so well.
Took one on test drive from a dealer. Was 40 miles away from my stomping grounds so I could not do a lot. Rent one, not in my town. Have to go 50 miles away & they might not have one.
It sounds like there is going to be a good learning curve to this.
I did not mean to torque anybody off, you people have been driving these trucks and wanted some different views.

Yes, but 3000rpm is not "high rpms", and yes, we're not talking about "off the line". You can only expect so much out of a 2.0 inline-4, turbo or not. 3000rpm torque peak at 277 lb/ft is pretty damn respectable, IMO.
Sorry, but what is 'IMO'?

This is now my fourth EcoBoost Ford. The first being my 2012 f150 XLT 3.5 l, second was a 2016 F-150 XLT 3.5 l, third was a 2016 Ford fusion 1.5 l and now my 24 2.0 l.

The only EcoBoost motor I had any issues with was my 12 XLT with the 3.5 trying to pass a semi on a two-lane road when at wide open throttle the engine had the fall on its face loss of power due to fluid buildup in the intercooler and it sucking it into the engine. My local Ford dealer gave me a loaner till they could get it replaced and fix the issue to never have it happen again.

This 2 l has a lot of pep surprisingly for a 4 cylinder I'm not one to drive like a nut, but I like to get up to speed before I get on the highway and this has no problem doing so it loves the GoPedal. I've only got just over 5,000 mi on my 24 and I've thankfully not had any problems with it and hopefully it stays that way cuz I plan to drive it till the wheels fall off.

As you refer to getting off the exit of the highway at the off-ramp and not liking to slam on the brakes I don't either. I usually let off the gas and kind of coast down to speed slightly before the off-ramp and then only have to apply easy brakes before coming to a stop. I've never had the slam on the brakes but I'm not one that flies off the highway full speed only to ride the brakes to the stoplight.

I think if you go with the EcoBoost over the hybrid you won't be disappointed in the power it has. Only downside versus the hybrid is obviously the hybrid gets way better gas mileage. I average right at 27 to 28 with my 2.0 eb.
Yes, we are going with the 2.0 EcoBoost. Electric cars/hybrids & I do not get along. I really do not like the small engines, it is the time we live in & government/EPA making us do this. Give me a big V8.
About fuel mileage, don't care. In winter my 3.5 V6 ideals a lot.
When I do get on the x-way for a long time, if I can, I get up to 80-85 mph and go. Only do that going up to the Mackinaw Bridge now a days.

Sport mode is what I use in those types of situations. I normally run in eco and switch to sport when coming upon an area where I know that I will need to be able to react quickly. Sport mode keeps the rpms higher to ensure the turbo is spooled and ready. Throttle response is much quicker as it rarely needs to downshift. It usually already is in the correct gear.

If you don't have time to change driving modes, then make sure to floor it. It'll downshift and scoot. If you don't give it max pedal it might lethargically accelerate in ECO and refuse to change gears.
Good to know.
This is the type of information I am looking for so I will know what to expect. Otherwise it is going to be a learning curve.

I've personally not driven a hybrid or EV vehicle. Not that I have anything against them other than they're just out of my price range for a new one and I don't see the return value in electric savings versus gas, but that's a whole nother thread.

All I can say is I highly doubt you'll be disappointed in the 2 l EcoBoost, I know I'm sure not it's comfortable rides well plenty of power. The only downside is the XL and XLTs without sync 3 or 4 whatever comes in Lariats sucks in the XL & XLT. It's so slow and laggy, it's not funny. If you go with a lariat the sync system is better than the non-sync or sync light that comes in the XL and XLTs.

It's got more go than 3/4 of gas powered trucks. And it's computer and trans does haul you down a little bit especially in tow haul mode.

Have had plenty of go fast vehicles (V65 sabre , CBX 6 cylinder motorcycle and etc . ) . Had F150 with 10 lbs tow package ( 5.4 liter V8 ) and 10 mpg city /16 mpg highway . Very good a towing and comfort but not much else . maverick would run circles around f150 at 23 mpg city / 32 highway . happy with maverick performance .

Your not pissing anyone off. Just viewpoints will very because different people have different perspectives and they may not coincide with yours. I posted to help you. That way you would be able to judge yourself. Especially since ultimately you are the one putting up the coin.

Of course it's still someone else's viewpoint but another option is looking on u-tube videos.

It's better yes but idle speed is like 750 rpm. My specific criticism of turbos is about trying to come hard off idle. You could have quad scroll turbos and lag would still be a problem.

Also, it sounds like OP's concern is the ability to accelerate on long on ramps and in that situation the ecoboost will shine.
You are addressing an issue that is not about lag. Turbos are so fast to spool already. You are experiencing the ford tuning. They limit trq per gear as to not destroy the drivetrain.
