Perhaps there are some test cases where if the vehicle were to die flat (not unheard of for the Maverick) then test personnel would need to be aware that (as per the MY2022 user's manual P.186/187) they have to manually pull a strap + lever (under a cover below the center console) to override the "shift by wire" lock to bring the transmission into neutral so that the vehicle can be rolled on/ rolled off a transporter/ carrier if the vehicle is not able to do it under its own power ... just a guess.“Caution: Shift By Wire, Follow Special Instructions To Transport Vehicle.”
