"Ford built 2.6X as many Mavericks as Rangers"
Ranger sales tanked last year, people are waiting for the 2024 model, so it's no surprise that Ford is boosting production of other vehicles.
I think it will be quite interesting to see what a hybrid Ranger will do to Maverick Sales :)

I'm just guessing here but I think a Ranger hybrid would get 32 city, 25 highway at most. It would probably start at $35,000?

Yeah, the F150 hybrid is pretty underwhelming and doesn't offer much of an mpg improvement on the standard one.

Interesting (to me) facts:

  • The plant cranked out 1,054 Maverick and Bronco Sports per working day (assuming Ford gave them the 2nd off for New Year)
    • That's just over one vehicle rolling off the line per minute.
The plant actually shut down for a holiday break from Christmas through New Year. All plants do.

If Ford is keeping their 65% EB ratio:

Through the end of March, they have built or scheduled roughly 22,000 EBs (and that might be conservative). Lets take off around 4,000 for fleet, since that the only way the published numbers to date make sense, and that leaves 18,000 EB orders built or scheduled out of roughly 27,200 EB orders.

That means starting with April scheduling, there should only be around 9,000 EBs left to schedule and Ford is building 5,000 EBs per month. Ford also plans to dip into the missing MY22 allocations for April.

Once we get out of April scheduling, the only thing keeping Ford from finishing off the EBs will be allocations and constraints. It will no longer be a capacity issue.
The question is does Ford already know where each of those vehicles are going and if so, why not disclose that?

No, allocation is calculated month to month and can not be calculated until the current months sales numbers are in.

It seems that there are many dealerships that had no business offering Mavericks to customers.

Yeah, I just didn't know if they gave them that Monday like a lot of businesses did. I assume they did in my math.

Yeah the rumor is there will be a Ranger PHEV - when and if remains to be seen but even if the Ranger got 32 - 35 still be an alternative. - Hey I aint doggin the Maverick - LOL For sure the Ranger would be more expensive and less fuel economy - the new one looks like the big brother to the Maverick. The towing capacity would be a plus if you needed that and It would be about the same size as a Rivian.

I would totally be up for a 32mpg Ranger. The big draw for me on the Maverick was being a truck with good fuel economy.

Yep. I have those accounted for. The fleet vehicles through me off a bit but I have those offset as well.

All speculation, but the math is tracking.
