So yes, I'm the guy that was complaining about poor FM reception and had anybody found a better antenna... so my radio reception goes from poor to poorer.. I am currently in the wilds of Ontario's North at the cottage and leave my Mav parked at a remote lake where we take our ATV's to the camp (no road access or electricity for that matter). Well I was loading the back bed and had to put up my trifold tonneau cover. It was then that I noticed the stock antenna had been pulled off the truck (coax connector still on truck) , the end and most of the mast chewed on/ pecked at, & the midsection bitten in half to the point it was 75% cracked. It was lying on the bed cover. I have no idea for how long. I also noticed my windshield wipers pecked at (bast%#@rds) and the molding around my drivers side window chewed at. Perhaps that new soy-based plastic is appetizing to birds/squirrels etc?? Any ideas (absolutely no food or even empty beer cans in or around the truck or bed)?

At any rate, I go to my scrap dealer and ask if he has any antennas. He gives me 2 (a dead ringer match and one off of a Ranger). I tried both. Just anecdotally - the Ranger one works way better. Just an FYI.

PS put up tin pie plates on fishing line. The reflection and slight tinging of the plate seems to have encouraged the crows to move along. Unless it was the squirrels 🤷‍♂️

True but its so dusty and no car wash for at least 500km, that is far the cover and wind would scratch the chintzy paint. PS the Ranger antenna looks more like this (so it's slightly longer than stock)

Sorry 'bout the crows.

In my hilly rural area, radio reception in a moving vehicle is difficult at best. Located some distance between two markets, stations come in and fade away with every curve & valley. Is your Ranger antenna for the new Ford Ranger or the old model?
Thanks.

(y):ROFLMAO: Good one! But seriously I have read (somewhere) that since plastics/rubber have turned somewhat less petroleum-based, that the critters don't find it so bad anymore?!
