You can also tell by the 8th digit of the VIN. 9=EB 3=hybrid

Maybe… the key fob does have a chip in it to authenticate with the vehicle. You would have to find a way around that.

The typical PATS chip is RFID. It doesn't require its own power source to authenticate to the vehicle, but it has very short range. The transmitter/receiver in the steering column is typically right at the base of the ignition cylinder. For pushbutton start you now need the key to be able to broadcast back with more power since it can be theoretically anywhere in the vehicle. There's still an RFID backup in case your key fob battery dies, though, by placing it in the slot underneath the center console bottom padding.

When i ordered my Lariat Lux Hybrid back in July i hoped it would be my Christmas present and then i lowered my expectations and scheduled by Christmas would be my present with deliver for my Birthday in March. Now i would like to get scheduled for my Birthday in March and delivery before the one year anniversary of submitting my order in July 2021. Next step is a 2023 around Christmas again.

I ordered in December 2021 hoping it would be done before my vacation on Labor Day, NOW hoping I get it before it die!!

I ordered my Lariat Hybrid with luxury package and hard roll up tonneau cover on July 7th. My truck is scheduled for production this week.

My Maverick reached the Dealership yesterday, I’m thinking Monday I should be finally driving it home.
