Its a very well documented issue. NTSB took action. Ford will just say its normal. Which I believe. If you read up the thread, the main problem was fixed via software. Just dont think its designed well. I've driven hybrids from other car companies and have never had clunks and noises. It is...
It is something I have gotten used to. But initially it was just straight dangerous. The truck would not stop unless you smashed the brakes. It was that issue that should never have passed the final ok. Even in a 20k truck. Ford knew, Ford didnt care. Otherwise, im as happy as you can be for a...
So, when you come to a smooth and controlled slow speed stop, there is absolutely no noise or pedal modulation? It brakes completely like a non-hybrid vehicle? Perhaps the the issue had been fixed at some point. Mine was pretty early in production.
After some confusion with the dealer (they had no idea what I was talking about) and them asking to test drive in which they somehow couldn't replicate the problem, finally got the update. It was a reprogramming. It helped slightly. But, it still is weird at low speeds. The clunking does sound...
I don't blame you. The problem on my truck (now at about 5k miles) just seems to get worse. Some people think it's design, some software. If it's a design flaw, I highly doubt your truck would be different. If it's software, perhaps theres a fix for all of us. On top of that, I now have to take...
Well, I think thats the point. There isn't another option because to get at that starting price point, Ford went above and beyond in cost cutting measures. Perhaps a lot of car companies didn't want to take that gamble. If you take the Santa Cruz, as ugly as it may be, it is a more expensive...
All I can say to the potential Maverick buyers that might read this: This truck is extremely cheap! In every possible way. Which is cool at the XL and maybe base XLT level. But you are a fool to put leather in this thing. To load up a Lariat. Let's not get started on those who buy a Tremor...
Looking forward to hearing what your dealer says. It indeed feels like a cheap truck. Which is totally cool because it is. Thats why I didn't add much to my XL. Any further down the lineup and you're starting to polish a turd. But, safety should never have a price.
Interesting that you seem to have a well working example. I honestly can't imagine Ford engineers test driving the hybrid, having this happen and being like, yep it's good to go! Since my last post, I made a trip to Target where I came way too close to a parking light lamp pole. It seems like a...
I thought about this since the first "clunk" happened with the salesman as I took it for a spin when it arrived at the dealership. However, at 2k miles, nothing much has changed. I think the clunking has even increased unfortunately.
Makes total sense. You bring up a good point about the danger of it. A thought flashed in my mind about parking behind someone in say a shopping center where the person is loading groceries in their trunk. I shudder to think of the outcome.
Interesting to hear you have the same problem. Appreciate you taking the time to report the problem. Unnerving is probably the best way to describe it.
Was wondering if anyone else had noticed this. There have been some posts about clunking or thudding at low speeds. My Maverick certainly does that when dropping down into what I assume is 1st gear. Makes me think the transmission is not long for this world. There's also something I haven't...
