Yes, now the signal makes a "detour" and goes to the amp as input; and from there back to the door speakers.
I used a "speed wire" for that, I have 4 wires with the signal going to the amp and another 4 coming back with an amplified signal to the speakers. As a bonus, I have a spare wire for a...
I don't have any pictures, but I unwrapped the Tesa tape, cut the speaker wires about 2-3 inches from the connector, soldered the necessary wires to make sure they would not give me trouble later, and wrapped everything back with tape. I would avoid that if I could, but I can't even tell...
Very interested in the review just for the JB4, if possible take some pictures of installation process. I know it's not too hard, but would be great to see it.
I decided for the active crossover from the Key, but there's plenty of space in the dash underneath tweeters, specially behind the glove box. For the wiring, the easiest way is to identify the wires going to door speaker and tweeter and reuse them, you can run new wires, but specially to the...
There's definitely some processing in the signal from the HU. I wish I had an RTA to check and confirm. I got the signal from the front speaker because I thought I'd had a better chance at a full spectrum.
Adding the LC2i is a good idea, the Kicker Key can restore the signal so that is good...
Made a small update on the install today.
I hated how the place for the B&O logo is empty on the XLT so I used my new toy laser cutter to cut a small morel logo for the doors in orange acrylic. I liked how it look now.
I made a black version and well, but that was a little boring, the orange...
I think thicker spacers are best if you want to use speakers with bigger magnets, getting the closer to the grill will help to put the energy inside the cabin as well. I think I had 1.5" of the fast right and did not cut anything so that space could be gained on the spacer if needed, but that's...
I have a couple of issues with the hideaway, one it can't keep up with the levels on the Kicker Key, I think the 10" will be a lot better.
The other issue is when I put only the sound on the passenger side I get some distortion on the sub sound, it's not there on the driver's side, only at...
I was hoping to see a JB4 for the Mav, I will 100% buy one after I break in mine. Burger has a long history of tuning BMWs and Audis and their support and knowledge is legendary.
I'd say that's one of the best options if not the best in terms of being easy to install and configure. May not...
There's no harness available for the Mav that I could find. I had to cut the front speaker wires from the head unit to feed the amp. I have 4 wires going to the amp and 8 from the amp to the 2 mids and 2 tweeters.
I'm using DC offset for both the Key and the sub, working fine every time...
I don't have the B&O in my Mav, but I just upgraded my base audio and I don't think they are that different in the end. The way the amp does signal processing and some other tricks make it difficult to just replace for another plug and play option. The front speakers are the same in both...
Fader works as everything else in the factory radio. I looked for any harnesses available and did not find anything, so I had to cut the 2 front speakers wires, I tried to do in a way that I can make everything back to factory. I have 2 wires for the signal going back feeding the amp and sub and...
I won't do anything with the back speakers, they are so bad in terms of location and how they are installed straight in the plastic trim that I think it's better to not touch it. I also have the radio set as driver's only as this lowers the volume on the back speaker and they just slightly fill...
Just updated the first post with a lot more info on everything. Take a look.
There's no amp in the base system just the radio feeding the 4 speakers, front speaker and tweeter is the same wiring. In my case I reused the speaker wires and run new wiring for the tweeters.
I just finished a nice audio upgrade on my XLT. Did a complete write-up in the electronics forum. Sounding amazing and I'm driving the longer routes to enjoy my music.
I don't think the deadening material alone is worth it. The deadening material is the most time consuming, but the woofers on the door are really weak, they make the biggest difference and it's not hard to replace them if you don't want to spend a lot of time. If your are not planning an...
