Thanks! It’s a great little truck for camping. I try to be realistic with my expectations in terms of the Mav’s off-road capabilities, so I haven’t taken it anywhere super intense. I’ve had no issues on several rockier, washboard-y and sandy roads. Honestly the most challenging terrain I’ve...
I have the bed outlet for charging electronics; otherwise, haven’t had a need for anything heavier duty yet. Considering a Jackery in the future but can’t justify the cost as I do a relatively simple camping setup.
Hello again! Got some requests to share more photos, so here are a few from a desert camping trip a few weeks back. Obligatory setup summary: 2" lift from Ford Ranger Lifts, Falken WIldpeaks in 245/65/17, ROAM RTT and Xtrusion XTR1 tent.
As always you can check me out on Instagram @maverickfx4...
Yes! 245/65 will fit stock without rubbing. I have seen conflicting info for 245/70. Some people say 245/70 doesn't rub and some say it does. Personally I tried AT3Ws in that size and don't see how you could get zero rubbing with no other modifications, but that is just my experience. Maybe some...
Thanks! Haven't had the chance to make it up that far north just yet, but it's on the list.
I get asked this question a lot and it's so hard to answer because yes, I do take off everything except the rack when I get back from a trip. I do such varied terrain/driving conditions on every trip...
That's awesome, I'd love a hardshell but couldn't swing the $$$ and it was too hard to manage getting it on and off (I'm small). Would love to have a kitchen setup eventually.
A hybrid would be fine on most of the roads in the photos (which are just steeper dirt/gravel roads), especially with AT tires. I was too busy driving to take photos at the stickier spots, but I wouldn't take a hybrid/FWD through this entire trail. A hybrid or FWD Mav could potentially make it...
This is Central coast, CA! The view is pretty much unobstructed with just the rack, but I lose a bit of visibility with the tent on since it blocks the upper portion. Honestly, it's barely noticeable while driving.
Thanks!! And that's a crazy good price for a Roofnest, lucky you! I'm always envious of the added convenience of the hardshells but with the price/length/weight I've never been able to convince myself. Personally my rack is 13" and the extra height of the RTT already bugs me haha. I can't...
Will do! I definitely get some flack for linking IG sometimes but it’s just so easy to put pics up on there :) totally get that not everyone uses or wants to use it though. I’ve got some from a trip to the desert that I don’t think I’ve posted on MTC yet. Keep an eye out!
Thanks, it sure is an amazing spot! I feel that — between money and my 9-5, I’ve been trying to convince myself to slow down, get out more and not worry too much about saving and work. Plenty of time to stress myself out in the next 50 years ;) for the time being, enjoying my Mav!
