Nope, The 12v battery in a hybrid is powered by a dc/dc converter that steps down the high voltage traction battery voltage to 12v to charge the battery and operate all the other low voltage dc loads. The engine doesn’t need to run to charge the 12v battery.

Did you measure the voltage with a load plugged in? Many inverters won’t invert until they sense a load connected. Try just plugging something in and see if it works. Andy
