  1. RF Grounding and Bonding

Yes this is the ideal case. Unfortunately, that isn't always practical especially when you have multiple antennae or you simply don't want to cut a hole in the roof (or use a mag mount). :)
  2. Completed ham radio installation, 2025 XL

I did not remove the rear passenger wheel, though I could see how that'd make it easier. But yes, you'll need access underneath the cover. You could take the whole thing off - I didn't. I just removed a few of the clips which gave me enough room to pull the coax down and feed it into the cab.
  3. Completed ham radio installation, 2025 XL

Yeah it took me a little while to figure it out also. On the passenger side, right down in the corner behind the back seat, there is a little rubber grommet you can poke the cable through. To get at it, you will probably need to pop some of the fender pins out. I fed the cable along the bed and...
  4. RF Grounding and Bonding

I literally posted in that thread with my own current setup. That thread is not a HF install and as such there's no mention of the topic of grounding or bonding...
  5. RF Grounding and Bonding

Yes. It's important for HF operation because on bands like 20m, 40m etc, even a quarter wave antenna is impractically large to mount vertically on a vehicle. It's really not so much a "ground plane" as it is a counterpoise - effectively the truck itself becomes part of the antenna which lets...

Hi all, Searched and couldn't find anything about this topic. I'm a ham radio operator, and I'm interested in installing a HF radio in my Maverick. It is likely that the RF ground will not be sufficient, and some work will need to be done to run some grounding braids. Was wondering if anyone...
  7. Completed ham radio installation, 2025 XL

Very nice install. If only I had the skills to fabricate something like that -it's an ideal place for the body of a radio. Here's a few of mine (it's a constant work-in-progress) I am running an Alinco DR-735T dual bander, hooked up to a Comet SBB5. The difference is I chose to (for now)...

  9. Typical Maverick Buyer's Age Range

33, male. Just bought a 2025 XL in Velocity Blue. First time truck owner. The "family car" is a 2022 Corolla. It's a great car. However, we have seen fit to become a 2 vehicle household recently. I needed something that will let me haul stuff from Lowes occasionally and gives me plenty of...
