This setup is used when I surf / pier fish. My truck is usually right next to me. If I need need to move further away, I can close and lock the tonneau cover which fits over the rod rack.

Created this fishing rod holder that can be easily removed out of spare lumber and a couple of Amazon cheap buys. My hard rollip cover can be closed with the rod holder in place and the fishing rods removed.
